Poll: Are you looking forward to this movie?

An unqualified YES! I will even accept a total reboot if it's done with class and respect, ala that "other" science fiction show. Whatever moves the franchise forward.

A guarded "no".

My faith in the suits not to mess this up is way too low. Plenty of other ways they can screw this one up too.

Hate Alias, but I like MIIII though, so... I have this sense it's going to stink, but there's still this tiny glimmer of hope that I fear is going to get crushed.

Ouch, looking at that gender breakdown, I guess looking for a date at a Trek XI showing isn't gonna work! ;)

I have to vote "I don't know." The 4 years I spent defending Enterprise -- a show I did and still like -- has really soured me on new Trek product. I'm hesitatnt to lend my support behind something that I might find myself having to defend later. I'm also not sure yet with regards to what the have planned; again, having seen the response to ENT I know the fanbase doesn't like prequels, and I still think it's foolhardy for Abrams to be doing a prequel that, he has claimed, will adhere to canon. I really can't see how this will be possible.

I am much more interested in seeing a reimagining or a reboot that lets the previous canon rest in peace and starts fresh, without having to be constantly looking over its shoulder at the last 40+ years.

I still maintain interest from a curiosity perspective, which is why I continue to discuss it in these discussion threads, so I'm not dismissing it out of hand. But a lot will depend on whether I'm going to have to cross a picket line in December 2008 manned by people wearing Starfleet uniforms and Vulcan ears complaining about Snoop Dogg being cast as Kirk or something like that...

Cheers!

:sighs:

No.

The fanbase has NO problem with prequels whatsoever. In fact, most people were pretty okay, if not outright enthusiastic about a prequel. What the fanbase has a problem with, is a bad show, even more with a bad prequel that screws up with regards to continuity over and over again.

That's a nice poll, but it's hard to see any correlations between the answers. For instance, are 40-44 year old males looking forward to the movie more or less than 20-24 year old females? It would be interesting to see that kind of information.

FYI: 40-44 year old, male, YES!!!

Yes I am looking forward to this movie..it will be interesting to see what they do with it..and it might just be good
