"Polaris"

maybe it should move across the screen a little faster if you're going to emphasize the speedyness

cool looking though :)
Except that at that point in the show we're not emphasizing speediness...the ship is easing into orbit.

Apologies if this has been covered before, but what are the glowing blue balls at the bow and stern?

While Vektor was building the Polaris mesh he rendered an image of it against a NASA photo which we've used for quite a while as the cover photo on the Polaris Facebook page.

I've re-rendered it as closely as I could using the completely rigged, textured and lit version of the model, and this is our current cover photo.

We're calling those "drive spheres." They are components of the FTL drive system. Exactly how they work is open to interpretation but a form of space-time compression and expansion is involved.

Hahah that's awesome. What would make it even better is if you had all of the photographed/cg elements painted over to really sell that retro look!

If we really wanted to go retro, half the elements would be painted and half would be hand-colored black-and-white photo cut-outs. ;)

I think our draft trailer is unique because it's actually about people and not pew pew spaceships. Plus it's got one helluva great closing line.

How's that for a tease?

Speaking of teases, does everyone here know that Dennis and Co. will be showing ~7 minutes of the show at Farpoint this coming weekend?
