Has anyone noticed that asleep at the helm Travis has more votes than Malcolm, Hoshi and Phlox? Who'd have thought? ;)

Voted for Trip. Us engineers got to stick togther... ;)

Porthos is still leading over T'Pol.. Gotta love it...

Hello to all!! I voted for Archer because after all he IS the Captain, but if we were voting on a *hot* factor, I would have voted for Trip! :p

A tough choice out of the triumvirate but I think Archer is the most important character. He has made some great decisions, like in the Andorian Incident. As a sidenote I'd like to say how strong Dr Flox's character is and what a great job John Billingsley has done with it. But I couldn't ever call him the most important character on enterprise. So the Captain gets my vote.

My vote goes to Trip. He seems to have it all: looks, brains, personality. He demands your attention when he's on screen.

Connor Trinneer is a very good actor. I would've cast him as Archer. He's not only got talent, he's got presence; something Bakula lacks.

But in my heart of hearts, Reed is still my favorite.

My vote goes for Trip. Every mission needs that capable, determined second officer who can command the ship when the captain and first officer are away. Does Trip ever fit that bill? Hell yes. Reminiscent of the future great Montgomery Scott, he is. I can definitely picture Trip doing what Scotty did in "A Taste of Armageddon" and refusing to lower the shields even when Ambassador Fox ordered him to do so because Scotty put it together that they were being lied to and the planet's defenses would fire on them if their shields were lowered. Trinner would have rocked in that type scene. ;) :D You can't keep your eyes off him when he's in command. Captain Trip made "Extinction" far more watchable. Factor in the actor's charisma and you can't miss. Trip drew me back into ENT when I'd all but given up on it during season two. That dumb southern hick showed some class, didn't jump Mrs. Phlox's bones even though he was given a free pass to do so, and I was hooked. I was such a snob before. Trip's the greatest.

Trip and Malcolm getting more time to play would be welcome, yes. :p

The answer is CLEARLY Mr. Mayweather.

My proof?
"Twilight."

SPOILERS if you haven't seen it, for the rest of this post.

Remember the battle with the two Xindi ships?
Mayweather died, so he was no longer at the helm. This allowed T'Pol to take over and ram the Xindi ships together, thereby damaging Enterprise.
Damaged, the ship couldn't get to the weapon in time to stop it from reaching and destroying Earth. Then, the human race was hunted nearly to extinction.
If Mayweather had still been around, Earth wouldn't have been destroyed. T'Pol wouldn't have taken the helm from him, knowing it would be logical to have the better pilot at the helm. And even if T'Pol had ordered him to ram the ships, Mayweather's a better pilot, and may have been able to do so with less damage to Enterprise.
Ensign Travis Mayweather is the key to Earth's very survival, and therefore the most important character on Enterprise, and indeed in all of Trek history. You owe him respect.

Is there some reason for digging this up almost a year later? Maybe someone should try sampling current opinion...

I voted for Mayweather. Whn this show finally goes down in flames...he willultimately be the smart one. He will have made lots of money, and can avoind being typecast in the future since its a foregone conclusion that no one will ever remember him form this series. He could truthfully came that he had "Very little" to do with this show.

Well, Mallory's a mod!

If it runs long enough now, it will start to take on the appearance of current opinion, don't you think?

I still say Trip - he's the key to getting into the show and getting to know the other characters - his interactions with them bring out their best and truest character. Twilight/Similitude hooked a pile of new fans for the show.

As an articulate friend of mine who converted me to the Trip side of the force said, Trip always seems to be the other half of the sandwich in these equations. :D Trip rocked in "Twilight." Very sexy with a touch of silver. Sorry, this isn't a drool thread. I'll stop.

Yeah, but in this forum I'm just a plain old poster like anyone else. I agree that if this continues to run it will reflect current opinion. I just think that it would be more fun to copy the poll and start a new thread with it instead of having to zip past 75 or so year old posts to make a new one.

No big deal, I was just curious more than anything else.
