I voted for Trip, well, just because! :p A4T has a point, though. Many of us watch just for him.

But, honestly, the most important character on the ship has to be the captain. And the most important--and popular-- character in the show should be the captain.

I voted for Trip. I watch to see what he will do or say next.

And I thought the subject title said T'Pol too. Glad I wasn't alone on that one....thought my eye sight was going!

I voted for Trip, because he's the reason many people start watching/keep watching the show.

That's funny--Trip is the reason I'm tuning out the show! I used to like the character, but no more--not since he became the ONLY character on the show (okay, B&B allow the captain and the vulcan have some things to do and say, too)while everyone else waits patiently in the background. Why have an ensemble cast if the idea is to showcase only one character? According to the upcoming episode blurbs, Trip is showcased in EVERY SINGLE EPISODE except "Horizon", the only Travis ep (and somehow, it wouldn't surprise me if Trip is highlighted in the B-plot of that ep!). I'm happy all you Trip fans are elated that your fave is so popular; I guess nobody gives a damn about those of us who enjoy the other characters more than Trip.

Sorry, kkennedytx, I'm one of the Tuckerites who's delighted to see our boy getting some more screen time after a dry first half of the season. Connor Trinneer is the best actor to come out of the Trekiverse in quite some time. Trip, and Trip and Malcolm, are the highlight of the show.

But I'd loooooooove more ensemble shows -- i.e., a show which actually uses everyone, not Triumvirate And Extras.

I'm another Tuckerite like Evey who is delighted to see Trip being focused on more heavily after a sparse fist half of the season. So I voted for him since he is probably the main reason that I watch show.

I do agree they do tend to focus more episodes on the Triumvirate than anything else, but I suppose that is to be expected since they are the 3 main characters. Saying this, my favourite episodes this year aside from the 2 Trip centric episodes have been the ensemble ones - Dead Stop, Singularity, Catwalk. I hope their will be more of these as I like it when everyone gets a chance to shine, develop and broaden their characters more.

Trip! (Reed is a close second - I guess I should have voted for him :( )

I started watching to see Bakula/Archer, but Trip and Reed are more entertaining.

However, the best episodes have been the ones that featured as much of everyone as possible (as has been mentioned).

Let's look at a few things.
1. He's always been part of the planned focus of the show - Archer/ T'Pol/ Trip. It was never set up to be an ensemble, despite what is said to be polite.
2. Both Braga and Berman have praised Trinneer's acting (as have producers and directors) and Berman stated that he needs more time on screen.
3. Given the way the other male characters have been developed so far (wimpy, uncertain captain/morose triggerhappy tactical officer/ nonexistent helm officer), it isn't surprising he's the most popular with many viewers. That doesn't excuse the mistreatment of the other characters, but it offers some explanation.

That said, I would love to have more ensemble work on the show. Vox Sola was a great ensemble piece, as was Singularity. But I don't think it's "an ensemble show" in the way that Boomtown or ER or Friends are ensemble shows. It's unfortunate that the others are left out, although Phlox seems to be finding a way in. Reed is the most obvious oversight, being written almost as irregularly as the captain. Hoshi has really shone when she can be mature and poised, but is pinned as the "weak one". And then there's poor Travesty. But I wouldn't go around hating Trip for these reasons.

As to "overexposure", that bears closer examination. I *hope* you aren't basing that on the back-to-back Precious Cargo and Dawn. Trip has been given about what he had in Season One.

Trip-centered main stories
Dawn, Precious Cargo

(Season One: Strange New World, Unexpected, Shuttlepod One, with Reed, Desert Crossing, with Archer).

Trip-centered B plots or a major storyline
Stigma, Singularity, Dead Stop, Marauders
(Season One: Broken Bow, Breaking the Ice, The Andorian Incident, Silent Enemy, Civilization, Shadows of P'Jem, Acquisition, Oasis, Two Days/Two Nights, Vox Sola)

Trip was featured in some way:
Cease Fire, The Catwalk, The Communicator, The Seventh, Carbon Creek, Shockwave II, Vanishing Point
(Season One: Fight or Flight, Rogue Planet, Detained, Fallen Hero, Shockwave I, Cold Front, Sleeping Dogs)

Trip was barely there:
ANIS, Minefield
(Season One: Terra Nova, Fortunate Son, Dear Doctor, Fusion)

Upcoming Eps:
Future Tense - some, Canamar - a lot (with Archer), The Crossing - some, Judgment - little, Horizon - little, The Breach - some to a lot, Cogenitor - a lot

All in all, for a major character, it seems about right. Archer's or T/Pol's appearances fit a similar pattern:

Archer-centered main stories: (more, as it should be - he's the captain)
Shockwave II
Minefield (with Reed), ANIS, The Seventh (with T'Pol), The Communicator (with Reed), Cease Fire

Archer-centered B-plots or a major storyline:
Dead Stop, Marauders, Singularity, The Catwalk, Stigma

Archer featured in some way:
Carbon Creek, Dawn, Vanishing Point, Precious Cargo

Archer was barely there:
*

Upcoming:
Canamar (with Trip) (a lot), Judgment (a lot), The Crossing (some), Horizon (some), The Breach (some), Cogenitor (some)
*Admittedly, his future is a bit sketchy in these eps

T'Pol-centered main stories
Carbon Creek, The Seventh, Stigma

T'Pol-centered B-plots or major storylines
Shockwave II, ANIS, Singularity, Dead Stop, Cease Fire

T'Pol was featured in some way
Minefield, The Catwalk, Precious Cargo, Marauders, Vanishing Point

T'Pol was barely there:
Dawn, The Communicator

Upcoming eps:
*She has no clear plot lines in future eps. That's not good, but that's only so far.

What strikes me about this information is
1. T'Pol is being underused as a member of the main three.
2. Trip is getting more screen time, as B&B said he would.
3. Trip has not gotten a "pair" main story this season since Shuttlepod One, with Reed and Desert Crossing, with Archer in Season One. Both of his starring eps this season have been alone, one with a wooden princess and one with an alien who didn't emerge very far from the makeup. Hopefully Canamar will remedy this situation, as he's better at reacting and interacting with others.

If you don't like Trip, I'm sorry. If you think he's overexposed, that isn't likely to change. Hopefully the show isn't contaminated/ruined/whatever for you.

Thank you for your kind words, but as Archer4Trip pointed out, B&B made their decision. Triumvirate and Extras it is.

Bitter? No--just sadly disappointed. I guess if I was a huge Trip fan I would be as ecstatic as all of you. But he's not my fave character--no, I don't HATE Trip--I'm merely tired of him. You're right--B&B have chosen him as the golden boy--it's not my place to express disapproval or dismay that my fave is not so favored by B&B. Trip will continue to shine as both the star and co-star of the show. Whether or not that ruins things for me shouldn't be your concern. Obviously B&B aren't concerned about losing fans.

I'm sorry I bothered all of you by airing my opinion. It's not worth anything, so I'll leave you all in peace.

I voted for Trip by a narrow margin over Captain Archer...though my THIRD choice would have been a heartfelt sympathy ballot for poor Travis. :(

Actually trip only had two episodes Dawn and Precious Cargo.

Tpol and Archer have had far more screen time this season.

In the last two episodes it was primarily archer and T'pol with trip having a b story in stigma (that took very little time) and in Cease Fire it is primarily Archer and T'pol again/

You only saw trip twice in anis, only a little in 7th
and e sahred time with the other characters in singularity, catwalk and mauraders.

So I dont see where featuring him in two shows makes it look like he is taking over.

Actually from the synopsis I have seen the rest of the season is very heavy with archer.

what i am curious about is why attack trip and not archer when archer as captain gets most of the air time

T'Pol.

She'll be responsible for bridging the rift that animosity has formed between humans and vulcans, leading to an ultimate founding of the federation, an organization with only one flag.

I guarantee it ;).

Porthos is currently in 3rd place! How funny. :D

What does this show when the captain's dog is beating T'Pol in the polls, not to mention the rest of the cast?

Duh. The obvious answer is Reed. Without him they (everybody else) would be dead. Leave your dog at home Archer! We can replace captains and engineers, but armoury officers are a special breed.

Archer is the most important. I feel about Archer like several of you feel about Trip. If no Archer I wouldn't bother to even watch Enterprise.

Hoshi is the translator and you need her more than arhcer.Plus in first episode of season2 her clothes get caught on the vent and she falls down naked
Would have been funny if suliban start chasing her around naked.

T'Pol!! As Twlight noted "She is the bridge" between the humans and Vulcans.
