Pointy Sideburns??

I wonder if I can use that nifty new moderator action and merge this thread with the one about Nero being bald and the one about Pegg's hair color?
In this forum where there is a tendency to hop on bandwagons, I'm thinking we need a multi-merge function.

Sweet. I haven't really been paying much attention to such photos. I've always thought the Starfleet sideburns was a cool little touch to give a sense of styles being different in the future. Glad to see they're keeping that.
I hate pointy sideburns in Star Trek.

The pointed side-burns are a must! It's a great design, affectation, what-have-ya. It a small touch that gives the time a sense of reality. Hair styles in Trek are... well, let's face it, famous! From Bee-hives to Spock's ultra-mod look.
Funny, I remember buying a Trek DVD in a Toronto shop with a nice pic of Uhura prominent on the cover. The girl at the cash remarked how her hairstyle was fashionable again. She was a bit amazed, as was I.

See, Trek fans can't agree on ANYTHING, even trivial fluff like pointy sideburns gets some people who hate them and think they look awful. Then there are others who think they look great and are eager and hopeful that they'll be included. I'm going to point to this thread the next time someone whines that the producers should just give Star Trek fans what they want.

Just out of curiousity... what looks so "awful" about the sideburns?
Lots of people in real life have pointed sideburns... or at least, "shaved at an angle." It doesn't look "awful" but having big shaggy muttonchops would look "awful" if you ask me (and this from a guy who generally likes his sideburns, mind you!)
Well, that's what happens when you shave your sideburns after drinking a whole bottle of something "green."
