Plot speculations: Star Trek XII

Well if it's Khan, I wonder how the jungle planet fits into it now. Is that where Khan maroons Kirk and the crew after they take control of the Enterprise? Or is it just some random planet they're exploring before all the shit hits the fan?

Hmmm, let me think. Why don't they have a freak with an over developed opinion of himself go totally bonkers and try and control the universe?

Isn't that the plot of almost every science fiction movie ever made?

I really wouldn't mind seeing Seven and Lincoln, but I truly hope that the Khan rumors are just that... Rumors. It's just my opinion, but let's leave Khan with Ricardo, who did a superb job with the character. Wasn't the whole point doing the reboot the way they did was to open up the storytelling canvas and not have it limited to the existing TOS framework?

They are limited to some extent to the existing TOS framework in that there are certain characters and elements of TOS that is essential. For example, they couldn't change the name of the ship without angering a lot of fans or start calling Klingon by an entirely different name. So there are some essentials they are bound to.

Even if they use similar characters like Seven or Lincoln or even Khan that doesn't mean they will be telling the same stories all over again even if the characters exhibit similar qualities.

I think introducing too many new things also has its limits.

It's a redux movie. What do expect? Besides Nero wanted to destroy anything not Romulan, Shinzon wanted to destroy anything not Reman, Ru'afo wanted to destroy the Bak'u, Khan wanted to rule Earth...now he can rule the universe.

I am fine with that. We really don't know how much of a redux this movie will be.

If Khan is the central character, how much different can it be? It's not like their going to turn him into Santa Khan. He's an augment, bent on total control of everything he sees. He christened his ship Botany Bay, after the penal colony in Australia. Yeah, Khan is not going to be a hero in this movie.

He probably will be the same or very similar. It is all in how it will be executed. It can be done well or it can be done poorly.

The CEO bit strikes me as odd. Not a position/title one normally finds in a Star Trek product. I wonder if someone misheard.

Again, recall that the working title for the last Trek film was "Corporate Headquarters." I really don't think anyone should take the role description of "C.E.O." at face value.

I see C.E.O. as almost a play on words or something. It could be like: C.E.O. is just a sarcastic way of saying, "Klingon Commander" or something. I bet Weller's role will be some sort of "commanding" position, but probably won't be a C.E.O. in terms of what the word actually means. He's probably the head of a ship or something.

If Khan is in the movie, there is no reason to think that he and his people would not have been found by the Klingons and because they are augments, were hauled off to Rura Penthe, where they were probably experimented on. Most likely Nero, knowing Khan's ill-fated outcome, taunted him with the knowledge that he was defeated by a mere human being. Khan might have been the better of the tyrants who tried to rule Earth, prior to the Eugenics War, but seriously, has anybody ever heard of a nice tyrant? As for the "Jungle Planet," if Qo'noS is subject to wild weather changes, why wouldn't Rura Penthe be the same way?
