Please help my wife and I find a series to enjoy together

We have a week off coming up next month and we would like to get some DVDs, Blu-Rays or Appletv Files of a series to watch marathon style.

A couple years ago I made her watch Lost, and she got really into it - we did a marathon with that and it is one of our most fun memories (gee, that sounds sad. :guffaw: )

We've gone through Arrested Develpment and Flight of the Conchords which she liked "ok". She is very picky, I love them both.

We made it through Jericho, which I loved, but by the end she was barely hanging in there.

She likes 24, and has gotten me into it this season.

We regularly enjoy the Top Chef, Project Runway type shows on Bravo. She likes that Jeff Lewis show Flipping Out, which makes me want to kill myself.

We also like Hell's Kitchen, but can no longer stand the american Kitchen Nightmares.

She loves the American Office. I love both the American and British ones - she can't get into the british one, even though she lived in London before.

Neither can she get into The IT Crowd, which I love.

Can anyone think of a series she may like? I know she wouldn't like Pushing Daisies, nor (sadly) Star Trek, and she's barely hanging in there with me for the end of Galactica. I know there is no way we can reproduce the Lost experience, but that is our fave.

Please help!

Spooks, aka MI5

Life On Mars (ETA- the original British version, I mean!)

Twilight Zone? The original series, of course. Then again, SciFi channel does TZ marathons fairly often...

How about Dead Like Me? Cool show, very odd and very funny.

Rome & Deadwood would be two I would suggest right off the bat. The Shield is also excellent.

How about something that didn't last very long so there's minimal commitment?

The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.?

Boomtown?

Firefly?

Over There might catch her if she likes 24. Single season show.

Band of Brothers or From Earth to the Moon.(just ask her if she liked Saving Private Ryan or Apollo 13-yes to either opens up one of these miniseries).

Life On Mars(British series).

Journeyman. Eli Stone S1. Both very interesting. But if she doesn't like Daisies she might not like Eli.

Deadwood
Dexter
Boomtown
Jonathan Creek (British mystery show that is brilliant, and amusing to boot)

Great suggestions. Forgot to say we love Dexter, she hates the commercials for Eli Stone and while I loved Journeyman she did not. I love Firefly, she has never seen it but I don't think she would like it. She has seen those old Twilight Zones a million times and likes them.

I'm leaning towards Rome or Californication. I will look into Over There. I suggested The Wire once, but she balked at that.

I'm telling you guys, she is crazy picky and seemingly very abitrary about these shows.

Whoops, double post. I'll use it to say we also watch Nip/Tuck...she dropped out last season but has stuck with it this year.

Also she used to watch Six Feet Under but dropped out and missed that amazing finale.

I love Mad Men and Breaking Bad, perhaps I will try to introduce her to those.

What about Spaced? It's short so it's hard to get bored, and it's also an incredibly funny sitcom.

If she's interested in theater ("the thea-tah") at all, I would recommend "Slings and Arrows."

Humor, drama, weird sh*t, --oh, and Shakespeare.

I'm not sure if you've seen "Firefly"...that's a good one and since it's only 13 episodes or 14 or something, then you'll be able to fit them easily into the week.

Are you only interested in new series????

My GF and I have been watching Friday the 13th the series. It was a fun show I loved when I was a teen. I had been trying to get her to watch it for years. We have been watching the scifi reruns. She copys everyone and has absolutely loved it. Its a nice lite scifi/fant/horror series that was actually pretty gory for the time.

More modern stuff I would say Madmen, Breaking Bad, Battlestar Galactica and Smallville, Farscape.

But mix it up a bit. If she hasnt seen much old tv shows introduce her or even reintroduce each other to less played classic shows. I myself have rewatched an old favorite that is just now being shown on tv again.(it was gone for a few years) Bewitched. Its a fun show and it some nice dinner tv. Also some great classic scifi like Voyage ot he Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants and Time Tunnel, Lost in Space. All great Irwin Allen series.

Do you two like Animated series? And I'm not talking tom and jerry, bugs, daffy our any disney fluff, I am talking more mature shows like Home movies,(funny, smart, at times charming) Squiddbillies, Frisky dingo ( if you don't bust a lung after watching Frisky you need help) Futurerama,( very funny & cleaver) or how about Southpark?( WARNING must not be easyly offended)
