The Borg queen used him to take over all of the transporter-modified Starfleet kids.
Makes sense but I didn’t see that on screen!
If Jack had taken a nap instead of going to the Borg there would be no Borg takeover??
The Borg queen used him to take over all of the transporter-modified Starfleet kids.
Yep. The signal was only sent from the Borg to the Starfleet after she assimilated Jack. Presumably, she could only do it with his inbuilt biological transmitter, and not the generic Borg tech.Makes sense but I didn’t see that on screen!

It was explained in the episode.Makes sense but I didn’t see that on screen!
It was but it's still pretty contrived. Apparently the Borg don't even understand their own evil DNA, otherwise they can recreate it on demand. Apparently Jack being born was just a lucky accident and if he tripped and impaled himself on a bat'leth one day the Borg would have no plan. It makes them seem less threatening, not more. Not unlike Jar-Jar Binks accidentally helping the Sith rule the galaxy, except I'm sure even Palpatine had some backup plan in case Jar-Jar fell off a railing on Coruscant. It was explained in the episode.
I welcome a good contrived story as much as the next person but if you're basically changing Crusher's character to get that contrived story and ignoring a plot thread from literally last season (Jurati's Borg), said contrived story no longer feels organic to the characters or even the previous season. All of Star Trek is contrived
They're not ignoring it.and ignoring a plot thread from literally last season (Jurati's Borg),
Maybe we have a different definition of ignore but I don't believe a single person mentioned Jurati's Borg as an option to help Jack. They're not ignoring it.
One more episode left.Maybe we have a different definition of ignore but I don't believe a single person mentioned Jurati's Borg as an option to help Jack.
Would it be a good idea to even do that? If he can control individuals with Borg altered DNA, you would potentially risk putting Jurati and her people in danger if you involved them.Maybe we have a different definition of ignore but I don't believe a single person mentioned Jurati's Borg as an option to help Jack.
He couldn't control Seven of Nine.Would it be a good idea to even do that? If he can control individuals with Borg altered DNA, you would potentially risk putting Jurati and her people in danger if you involved them.
We know Jack's powers have limits. He obviously can't control the Borg Queen. He probably wouldn't be able to control Queen Jurati. I don't know about everyone else in her faction though...Would it be a good idea to even do that? If he can control individuals with Borg altered DNA, you would potentially risk putting Jurati and her people in danger if you involved them.
True, but she was struggling to keep control when the Borg signal was being broadcast. And she's over 25 and many of her Borg implants have been removed, where Jurati's people would presumably have all of the hardware installed. He couldn't control Seven of Nine.
Or more simplistically - they planted something into Picard that eventually might have come handy. They clearly understood the threat the federation posed early on - and they were being proactive. They kept options open. I actually think it is a pretty cool way to make the borg smartThis post from Tumblr sums it up:

Everyone is blinded by callbacks to their childhood and not that many people seem to be noticing that this mystery box plot makes as much sense as Discovery season 2.
She shouldn't have been second in command after her carry on a few episodes ago, especially since Shaw didn't like her or the Borg in the first place. None of it adds up.
Not really. If they were smart they'd have installed that evil DNA into every person they assimilated, and this show would be about Miral Paris.Or more simplistically - they planted something into Picard that eventually might have come handy. His points aren't moot and just because something is financially successful doesn't suddenly make it a storytelling masterpiece. People aren't going to Transformers movies despite their box office for masterful stories. The Marvel cinematic universe has brought more money than all of Shakespeare's plays combined in centuries have done. And so on.your points are moot and you clearly are in the minority given how successful this season has been. Get over it.
Uh...thats...not really the point.
I was a means to emperil the younger generation and have something to save..
