Decided to give 15 dollars more through World Vision. I decided I was being kinda stingy. So that makes $25 from me.

My Family have donated our New Year Party Money £150 who needs to party when all these people have nothing, and I have doubled that from my own money. £300 donated to Red cross appeel.Thes people are suffering. PLEASE GIVE ALL YOU CAN

That $575.6227 Borg Princess Well Done. My Family also has given up New Year Celebrations and doneted to the cause, I wont say how much as the amount has allready been posted by another family member

I've been trying to get a similar thread to be stickied over at the Rottentomatoes.com message board, but not too many people seem interested :(

I've only donated $5.00 so far to the Red Cross, but I'm planning on donating more through our local mosque.

Do what you can people; no amount is too little and every bit helps.

I know you're not looking for praise, but good job and a great thread, Enterpriser.

As for myself, I'm hoping to get some local ministers together and we can get some money raised for these people as soon as possible. Personally, I'm pulling together what money I have and will be sending it via amazon.com.

I made a donation to the American Red Cross courtesy of Amazon.com. I encourage everyone who can afford as little as five bucks to make a donation. Every bit helps.

Enterpriser, thanks for creating this thread.

Ditto. As much as I disagree with you on almost everything else, this is a great thread.

Thank you.

www.imdb.com is also doing something. I maybe going to Amazon myself. Though, I want to actively look around my area to see if any groups are doing this, and see what I can do. My sister in law is part of the PTO, maybe she knows something.
Enterpriser, this is a very beautiful and admirable thing you are doing here. :)

Edit: I have asked my husband to let me know, if his office has word of donations being done and when to do it, and how. He has told me, that the Air Force is sending planes to help.

$2,000.00

Thanks, everyone! Great comments, and I really appreciate your compliments that I received. However, I am privileged to do this, I deserve no praise. This is the least I could do.

I kinda figured we'd obliterate that $2000 goal that was suggested early on. Way to go, everyone! :)

It's not official yet, but after the card clears, $30 is being donated through Amazon.com.

And tomorrow I will be getting in contact with a few clergy in the area to see what else can be done.

To put us at the $2,000.00 mark, I have put in $20.00 to http://www.unicef.org.

I ask of you, please, let us move toward a new goal -- $4,000.00.

Amazon.com has raised in excess of $3 million, with average donations of $58.85.

Let us do the best we can. Thank you!

my dad asked me earlier today where/how to donate money, so i suggested amazon.com to him. he gave me the distinct impression that he'll be donating more than the $250 that amazon sets as a limit for recognition.

as for me, i'm a grad student, so i have to check my funds/bills a little more carefully before i can.

also, does anyone know of places i can donate physical items to? i'd be interested in doing that as well.

Thank you, Daena. :) I hope your Dad comes through.

I am doing little more than passing along some information I've heard through the news regarding your question, as follows: While the sentiment of those who wish to donate physical items is greatly appreciated, such donations can be somewhat counterproductive in that they may not be exactly appropriate for the relief requested, and they may require transportation, fuel, and other expenses that are in extremely scarce supply at present.

I personally am moved by your desire to help. May I suggest that you please click on sites such as http://www.unicef.org, or http://www.care.org, or http://www.usaid.gov, regarding the most efficient methods of assistance.

If you cannot donate funds at this time, then please e-mail, call, or otherwise gently remind your friends and contacts of the need for their assistance.

Again, thank you for your desire to help! God bless you.

I donated a tenner (roughly $20 in US money, so I'm told) to Red Cross UK. I'd love to have donated more, but as a student, money's tight, plus I'm already making a quarterly donation of £20 to a vision impairment charity.

ETA: I'll text my friends to ask them if they'll be donating.

ETA2:

I just started a "snowball appeal" - I texted some of my friends asking them to donate, and hopefully they will text their friends etc etc etc... I know it's not much and it's classed as spam really but I hope it helps.
