Personally, I do not have an interest in an adult collectible based on a brand aimed at very young children, but its always telling that there's still a thriving market for TOS-based items, despite the belief that TOS consumers have "aged out". Some forget that TOS has a dedicated fan base across several generations who are ever ready to spend money on many a TOS item.

I ended up going the route of Tomy's 32 inch TOS Enterprise diecast model. Not intended for kids or as a toy. Going for accuracy with the filming model.

That also supports the notion that TOS fans aren't aged out. Although, they did have some difficulties during their crowdsourcing in reaching their campaign goals.

It was kind of a crappy marketing effort, particularly with regard to the timing. It doesn’t matter since they’re moving forward, but I think if they’d promoted it at SDCC and the big Trek convention they probably would have done better with their crowdfunding numbers.

I'd agree with that. I'm hoping there were lessons learned there. In the meantime, I guess that makes my 32" TOS Enterprise model more of a collectible! Although, that's not why I got it. Truly for my own enjoyment.

They did just send me, as a buyer, a survey about possibilities for their next Star Trek next crowdsource project. They asked about potential ships, sizes, and prices.

Basically, TOS Klingon D7 Cruiser, ENT TMP refit, 1701-D, or the SNW Enterprise.

And size preferences of 32", 21", or 12" at $599, $499, or $399, respectively. (I might be misremembering the middle and smaller sizes by a little.)

So, it seems like they're planning for a next time. We'll see!

I think the Playmobil Back to the Future is around $50. Can't we get a Star Trek shuttle for around the same price?
Can't afford something I don't need for $750.
