Sooooooooo typical Trek licence rollout of a product.........they really have a hard time with EVERYTHING.I have a hard time believing we will see the Prodigy stuff this year considering we still haven’t seen a shot of the Janeway or Rok prototypes. And with the trouble they have had getting the TOS, TNG and Disco stuff on shelves I just can’t see them hitting before Christmas.
Yeah, vague early statements from Playmates said these new figures would be "in the scale that fans are familiar with" and that they were sure that the new figures would "fit in perfectly" with the 90s toys. But to me, the difference is considerable. But if they were the same height, the new ones would look scrawny next to the old ones due to the more realistic proportioning. Perhaps a compromise could have been made.I would have been fine with the “less cartoony” sculpts if they would have kept the scale the same.
Shame? Ok, sure. I'll just be happy to see them out.

Kor
And I need those toys now! We have a big family project underway to induct my nephew into the Star Trek cult, and those action figures are a crucial piece of the plan.![]()
Have you informed the parents of your nephew of this deceitful yet cunning plan?
One would hope they’d get Prodigy specific cards, to help cement things into kids’ minds.although I bet they are on that generic ST Universe card like Saru and Burnham
The smart move is in the toys. One would hope they’d get Prodigy specific cards, to help cement things into kids’ minds.
I suppose it will come down to if they get stuck with the collectibles or warrant some peg space with the kid stuff.
Oooo... it never occured to me that having the phaser as one piece made it easier to velcro it for use as a cosplay piece. I doubt that was their intent but it also makes the choice to have the screwholes on the more detailed side a little more sensical (since that's the side where the velcro would go).
a seven (7) minute review comparing the new PlayMates Phaser with both the 1990s toy and the Art Asylum/Diamond Select versions. To the point without the clowning around in the clip presented earlier in this thread.

Goddamn, I just ordered Riker and Khan.
Over the course of a few weeks I've had such a progression from...
"Of course I'm not going to buy any, but I am glad they're making these again"
"Maybe I'll just get Burnham. Just one."
"Well, if you're going to get Burnham, you might as well get Saru..."
Suddenly, a box with Data and Kirk was also being delivered.
Then before I knew it I was in the woods posing pics like it was a Data/Kirk/Burnham away mission to the Oversized Forest planet.
And now I am about to have purchased them all.
I am definitely lucky this is not going to be a 90's-size line. There would go the house payment.
