Playmates Toys

I found the photos - in this thread no less posted a few years ago LOL

And I liked it already back then :D
I see you already have the Defiant. Can you convince that guy to come to LA and offer his things there?

I guess this is why Nacelle is only doing “classic era” Trek figures. Master Replicas is apparently releasing figures from nu-Trek. From the pictures you can see Picard and Riker from “Picard”, Boimler and SNW Spock. Odd (to me anyway) that it would be Boimler from LD and not Mariner.

Yeah that makes sense.

Note that the numbers on those figures: 0001 and 0002 for Picard and Riker, 0005 and 0006 for Spock and Boimler.

Suggests at least a couple more figures in the wave - maybe Pike and Mariner?

Pike and Mariner would make the most sense…2 from each series. Interesting that there isn’t anyone from Discovery.

Here was the official post Ben Robinson re-tweeted. Truly a shame. Wonder how this will impact the release of the line, if not the actual final product?

Toy Faires are where manufacturers try and convince retailers to pick up their merchandise to sell. Theft of the prototypes is a bummer for the marketing dudes, who will now have to make do with photos, but it won’t impact production. Honestly, I was a little surprised that MR was at a show at all since they currently sell everything directly, but maybe they are trying to sell things a bit more broadly.

Also, wasn’t Hiya doing similar figures? I’ve already seen preorders for their SNW Pike - concerns me that CBS/Paramount continues to over-license what are essentially niche products.

Hiya is doing Kelvin Trek figures and it looks like a SNW Pike as well. Wonder how they managed to pull that off when it sounds like MR has the license for CBS Trek

Distinct categories within the contract.

Otherwise how would we have Playmates, Hiya and the Exo 1/6 scale detailed figures?

Or Bandai and Hasbro producing Mighty Morphin Power Rangers figures?

That's crazy. Maybe they were just test sculpts that were essentially disposable, but important for retailers to see?

The Hiya Pike could just be a special one off. They announced the Kelvin Kirk first but the rest of the crew plus Prime Spock and Kelvin Pike pretty quickly afterwards. There hasn’t been any further SNW announcements from them.
