Pissed off Vulcans

PhoenixIreland

Captain
They're not emotionless in ENT, they're angry, all the time.
Except Tpol

The Ambassador to Earth espechally, one time he literally srormed off in the middle of a conversation to go sulk like a child.

Whats with these people?

They're smug and arrogant. Dealing with Humans is "beneath" them. That's why they're annoyed all the time.

Keep watching, all will be revealed.

I don't see it as smug. I see it like a parent dealing with a teenager. Humanity thinks it's ready to be an "adult" race, yet the Vulcans know better... And given Terra Prime and other racist sentiments, it's hard pressed not to agree with the Vulcans.

I found the idea of showing Vulcans as not-so-pleasant-guys very convincing, at least from the cinemathograpic point of view. Ok, so if they had been portrayed as nice and helpful... than what? They would be saving Archer and company from every dangerous situation, they would give him assistance, may be they would organize some merry party together... and we would end with Archer leading T'Pol to the altar, with Soval and Forrest as their best men? Nice, of course, but soooo dull....

Actually true.
Im not sure if it's because Im judging them against TNG rules and morality but I find the humans in this very annoying sometimes, they often play right into the primitive image the Vulcans have of them, they're very tempremental and inward looking in terms of how they judge other cultures, it's easy to find a culture "fascinating" when they have three brests or whatever but when they do something you don't agree with it's another matter...like have a third slave race

As well as they should! Humans are a "baby" race, and they have to learn. Honestly, I would have liked for the Enterprise to run in to a couple of Federation starships on deep space assignments over their mission... See how much those crews had to "learn" to survive at Warp 3 :)

Because Vulcans do have emotions, whether you like it or not. They just try to hide them.

The Vulcans in TOS were emotional. T'Pring, Stonn, and T'Pau are some of the best examples that I can think of. They emoted all over the place.
Vulcans have emotions and they try to suppress them, because it is the logical thing for them to do. Some of them do a good job at suppressing those emotions. Some of them do a very poor job at suppressing those emotions.

Maybe they are all pissed because they found out Spoc's father is fooling around with human women and they find it embarrassing and insulting. :rommie:

Is it just me or did Sarek sound pissed off when he met with Kirk in "The Search for Spock"?

Sarek was definitely upset when he confronted Kirrk in STIII:TSFS; and was also somewhat smug and a bit arrogant in the TOS episode Journey to Babel. I'm still of the opinion that anyone who thinks the Vulcan attitude was 'wrong' during the run of Enterprise never saw the TOS episodes where we saw other Vulcans (besides Mr. Spock); because the poirtrayal of Vulcans was one thing ENT did well IMO. If anyone got them 'wrong' it was the TNG era series.

I thought the Vulcans of TOS were very logical. T'Ping didn't sound pissed off when she told Spock why she picked Kirk. It sounded coldly logical. Sarek rarely emoted ... but as he said himself he sometimes lost his logic where his son was concerned. Spock was the epitome of logical control and Leonard Nimoy is the gold standard for Vulcans.

Sure Vulcans have emotions, but the point of them (excepting the votush katur, like Sybok) is that they suppress their emotions. Having them alien is cool. I think what I've always liked about the Vulcans is that humans try to "suppress" our emotions and strive to be logical which makes them human-like; they just have it down to a science.

I never thought Soval sounded emotional. And I agree with the analysis about of how Vulcans believed the humans to be infantile, treating them such. Even T'Pol treated them that way in the early parts of the season -- not wanting to associate herself with them when they reached P'Jem.

The Vulcans of Ent were a mixed bag. I think the writers made T'Pol too emotional to her detriment.

Why would T'Pring be pissed off? She's kicking Spock to the curb and making him fight his best friend to the death, while her boy toy plays it safe. Though Stonn was ready to throw down and seemed a bit miffed he didn't get a chance to fight Spock. T'Pau while not miffed or pissed, seemed less than pleased that Spock's "groomsmen" were humans. I think she caught a whiff of them too. ;)

stonn very much looked miffed.
and yeah tpring got what she exactly wanted.
at first tpau was upset with spock but as bones and especially jim proved their worth her tone very much changed.

tpau goes from rebuking spock to congratulating him on his choice of yes "friends"

Spock chose his friends well

T'Pau was very much pissed earler in the incident though:

"Thee Speaks?..." (response by Spock)... "It is said thy Vulcan blood is thin. Thee has prided thyself on thy Vulcan heritage. Art thee Vulcan or art thee HUMAN?!"

(And I felt a BIG feeling of disgust was also present in T'Pau when she angrily spoke the last sentence).

Perhaps Vulcans are generally accepting of humans, but get frustrated with some of their repeated errors!

Soval was such a whiner. I can't remember the episode but Archer was walking away from him after an argument and he half yelled "Captain!" Archer then turned around and berated him for being emotional. I nearly rolled off the couch laughing.
