Pike to return?

You just bumped this thread to repost the same two week-old link that is in the original post.

Bump!

Seems they want him in, he wants to do it. Let's hope that pay disputes or script amendments don't nix it.

:alienblush: D'oh!!!! I saw it referenced in another 'news' story yesterday. Guess I must have goldfish brain after all that Xmas excess!

I hope they have him. He was a good strong character with presence. Since this is a new Star Trek universe with new rules, there is absolutely no reason why he shouldn't be.

In fact, I'd kind of like to see him be built up more. More hero, more mentorship... Then for something tragic to happen that drives him to the edge, maybe pitting him against Kirk, though be-it on the same side of a conflict (with different moral values) or even turned bad (though that may be a little too cliche for the more savvy Trek fans- but the general non-Trek fan wouldn't care so much)...

Pike will be promoted to Fleet Captain and will probably just be used to give Kirk orders, etc.

Or...maybe he could be central to the story...he's on a ship close to Talos IV which is damaged and crash lands...he's injured saving a bunch of kids...captured by the Talosians...Kirk and crew go on a rescue mission...with similar "The Cage" like events happening.

In the end, Pike, who is badly injured, agrees to stay on Talos IV, living a life of illusion with Vina (who was also on the crashed ship and injured) while Kirk and crew goes free, along with the survivors of Pike's crashed ship.

Hey...it could happen.

His role was essentially like that of Obi Wan, and I suspect that's how he'll continue to be treated.

He's going to have his head cut off then return as a ghost to reveal everything he said to Kirk in nuTrek 1 was a pack of lies?

I'd like to see him back, even if it's just a cameo saying "Take the Enterprise here". It'd be nice to have some continuity amongst the upper echelons of Starfleet, ala Admiral Cartwright in the original films.

Kirk: "You said my father was captain of a starship for 12 minutes! "

Pike: "What I told you was the truth from a non-canon point of view."

Kirk: "A non-canon point of view?"

Pike: "If I told you that your father was captain of a starship for only 10 minutes and 32 seconds, you wouldn't have joined Starfleet."

I hope Pike returns, as long as he loses the Ben Cartwright sideburns. :)

"Sir, I'm detecting a sudden spike in the Cartwright-reference index!"

They should give Pike a more prominent role, and get him in a love triangle with Spock over Uhura.

Well, sources tell me that this is actually the case. He's still in a wheelchair, and it turns out that there's a big dilemma for Uhura. She'll have a wheelchair fetish, and will be torn when Davros, creator of the Daleks returns...yes, that's right, Trek 12 is actually doing double duty as the long awaited big screen Trek-Who crossover event.
