Quite nice, everyone!

I'm going to take a sabbatical after the Dr Who Xmas special, but before I do, I thought I would contribute to the hat sub thread, as well as pay homage to one of the more famous TBBS threads

Ready?

Starsheeps? We don' need no steenkin' starsheeps!

That pic is too perfect.

The two that popped in to my head within two seconds after reading your post. The BBC, especially, has many women in positions of authority over their content.

Ostroff canceled one of her network's highest rated shows because it was too male-orientated and is a frequent subject of discussion on GTV&M so maybe she's not the best example of competence, I admit.

^Oh I am...I lost it over a year and by working my ass off (literally!). But when I quit smoking in August, I lost my 'going to the gym' gusto I had and have been snacking more so I gained some back :(

I know my New Year's Resolution already!

^ Really. :techman:

tsq vs Ria HAT WAR!!!! :)

To women enter (wearing hats), one woman leaves!

Word. Because if I entered, everyone's getting massacred.

Yeah, well I don't think 217 different baseball caps should count. :p

Kidding. If I recall correctly, I remember seeing quite a nice fedora at one point. I'd love to get me one of those.

Eh hem. I've been busy lately -- haven't had much time for the BBS -- but I bought a new hat last weekend. Shall I post my collection and cream you? Because you may have quantity, but I have quantity, quality, and diversity!

Perhaps so, but you don't have a bowler, now, do ya? :p

Finished this painting the other night:

It's my cousin's name in Baybayin (ancient Filipino script). Check here for more details on the design.

That's pretty cool. Nicely done!

That's my sister. Can you tell we're related?
That hair is ridiculous!

Isn't it, though?

Here's a better picture of the two of us:

Well boo-hoo. TV would actually be dominated in part by females. Probably not in the same proportions as audiences, though.
Now if a supposedly female-dominated television could really make a difference in politics, and in the workplace, there would be hope. Why am I lacking conviction here? :shifty:

Anyway, within the media, I don't think in terms of males vs females, but rather quality vs fluff.
The war of the sexes is not my purpose in life.

All female dominated television would do would be to make men turn it off for good, thus costing the networks half their audiences and thus half of their advertising revenue.

All of which means more money for Electronic Arts, Sony and Microsoft.

Yeah, sure, unfortunately a lot of the fluff is aimed at women and not much of the quality.

^^ And I'd thought you were informed and enlightened.
What does the "R" in your sig stand for, "retrograde"?

What exactly do you object to ?

Have I said nobody should make TV for women ? No.

Have I said women shouldn't be TV executives ? No.

All I've said is that much of the television currently aimed at women (reality shows, soaps etc) is of poor quality and that one woman executive (Dawn Ostroff) is doing a bad job of running her network. That opinion is not exactly an uncommon one as anyone who reads General Sci-Fi or General TV & Media will tell you. If all television was aimed at women, men would stop watching. Ostroff's network, The CW, is a case in point.

For now, I will ignore the fact that you just flamed me to make your point.
