On final approach recently

Dog decided it was time to play today so she came into my office. The white blur behind her is the tip of her tail.

Nice shot! At first glance I thought this one one of mine. I shot a very similar one back in 2008. I had to go back and check my own shot to remind myself of what it looked like!

We went to a street fair yesterday for what is likely to be the last time, and we happened to run into the street artist Hans Honschar.

Not an amazing picture - but.... this is the first time in 30-plus years of being alive that I've seen a chalk drawing of the Enterprise.

I should really start handing out club flyers in this town....

Now that looks like the Enterprise C, I think that is the closes true representation of the Enterprise C ever. I wish we had an expert to weigh in on the validity of how close that is to the correct Enterprise C.

A few days ago I poured some of my Limoncello for a few friends, the talk changed into 'what else can you make in this manner' and we all agreed that Pistachiocello sounded like the thing to make next.
Strangely even the google couldn't get me more than one recipe, but it was a great one to read:
500 ml (3/4 bottle) vodka or grain alcohol
2 c. unsalted pistachios, in the shell
A cup or two of 2:1 sugar : water simple syrup, added to taste

Drink remaining bottle of vodka (250 ml or 1/4 bottle). Drunkenly add nuts to remaining alcohol in mason jar while cursing the economy and the general nature of society. Let nuts steep for 48 hours. During this 48 hour period, find more vodka. Drink. Make simple syrup by briefly boiling 2 parts sugar to 1 part water. Strain out nuts. Add simple syrup to taste. There will be some left over, so, while in said inebriated state, consume and post about said experience on Twitter. Chill finished mix overnight in freezer or refrigerator. Serve cold as possible with stuff pistachios go well with. Perhaps replace the normal vodka in a White Russian to create a "Nutty" Russian. Enjoy!

The only non-salted Pistachios we could find were without shells, but we decided to try anyway.

Today is the end of the steeping, but I have decided to let steep for a few days more (general rule no. 1: taste the stuff before you do anything else (I did and it needs at least a whole week, I'm thinking)).

Picture taken ~45 minutes after the nuts went into the soup:
