My Mother-in-law is in town and took my daughter to have her first salon haircut. She also got a manicure, a glitter tattoo, and a new stuffed toy!
My wife took this one a few days ago and it gave me a good chuckle. On the weekends I will sit in this chair, have a coffee, and a read a few comic books. Most of the time my cat Gimli will jump up and sit in my lap. My daughter went to a great deal of effort to "read comic books like Daddy", right down to having her stuffed toy cat join her!
Today I saw a really cool, quiet bit of feminist activism. These little girls in white (there were about 12 in all), with signs on their backs addressing the unequal representation of women in positions of power, performed a completely silent ballet for 10 minutes down 14th street, accompanied by an expressionless middle-aged woman in a white gown. Sorry for the crappy video quality:
Wait, is the African-American girl on the right protesting that Canada doesn't have a female Prime Minister now (true) or that they've never had one? Because the latter would be far from accurate.
Kim Campbell of the Progressive-Conservative Party was Prime Minister for four months in 1993 (June-October) following the resignation of Brian Mulroney.
Still, thanks for sharing. We don't see many public demonstrations or performace art displays in my area and when they do happen I'm usually nowhere nearby when they happen.
