I say, go with an all-new villain. What's the point of a new universe if you're just going to rehash the old? Although, if it's done well and you're going to use an old villain, go with Khan.

I voted Gorn because it was the best idea on the list and 'other' seemed like a cop out, but something should be said about including Harry Mudd, not as a villain, but a comedic plot device and a shout back to TOS.

I'd like to see Tholians as the next villain, given that they've been established as pretty brutal and territorial, making them very likely to go after the Federation in the post-death of Vulcan period, especially if the Federation took some system they always considered to be their territory.

Plus the Tholians and their tech are just plain cool.

I know, bring in 2 villains. One to oppose Spock and one to oppose Kirk. A pissed off Sybok angry at the Federations inability to protect Vulcan will be Spocks and Khan will be Kirks.

How about they... oh I dunno... explore some strange new world or phenomenon. Maybe boldly go where no one has gone before? Or my personal favorite: tackle a social issue using the guise of science fiction.

I've enjoyed all the movies, except for this new one. That said, not even counting this new film... having a bad guy / villain has been over done. It's time for Star Trek to be Star Trek. There are so many social issues that we're facing that would be great to tackle:

  • Personal freedoms vs. the State
  • Homosexuality (and the lack of equality in that area)
  • Religion getting in the way of science and social progress

I'm laughing as I say this though, because there's no way Abrams Trek will ever do anything other then move fast, display lots of CG, and show skin.
