Picard's Finest Moment

"Not good enough, dammit, not good enough!" And I believe a Picard moment in an alternate timeline is still a Picard moment. After all, we all saw it, didn't we?

I dunno, that would mean I'd have to take the Abrams pic seriously, and that's pushing the line way too far back. It also means we have to accept the warp 10 salamander thing, if you're unfortunate enough to have seen some VOYAGER eps. The line has to be drawn somewhere, doesn't it? SOMEbody sez that in ST, right?

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

Sins of the Father....

Loads of good ones here

"I speak now as a representative of the United Federation of Planets. You shall not execute a member of my crew, nor will I turn his brother over to you"

always sends a shiver.....

"What does this say about a race that holds honour so dear?"

Said in contempt to fat Klingon High Commander

I also grew up on TOS but I embraced TNG (and Picard) from the beginning. As to his finest moments, there were way too many possibilities to pick one.

Also from the aforementioned The Defector, I love the scene where they are surrounded by Romulan Warbirds and Picard signals the three Klingon ships to de-cloak. I love that moment. I really believe Picard as a master tactician in this scene.

Not only was it a shrewd move on Picard's behalf and a great end to that story, I think it is a perfect example of TNG's talk-your-way-out-of-fighting "theme" that some criticize. But I don't think it lessens the impact of the storytelling at all.

Not to say I wouldn't love to see a Galaxy and three K'Vorts take on 3 D'Deridex's. That would be pretty sweet. But this isn't DS9!

It's too bad that the Picards' finest moment echoed by most on this thread are in an alternate universe!

Or is it... maybe Yesterday's Enterprise is in NuTrek's universe.

But surely, after Star Trek XI all of Picard's finest moments happened in an alternate universe.

**Grabs coat and runs for the door**

Agreed! :techman: This is easily one of the best moments from TNG, rivaled only by the end of "The Best of Both Worlds, Part I."

There's one moment I like, even though it's from a horrid ep. I believe it's When the Bough Breaks, the 1st season ep where sterile aliens steal the Enterprise's children, including Wesley. Picard is pissed, and he says to the leader, "You claim to be a civilized world, and yet you've just committed an act of utter barbarity!" I often repeat that to my kid brother when he does something slovenly.

Hmm... I liked the scene where Picard was outraged Gowron couldn't find time to speak to him, and one of the junior members of the High Council said he would rely a message. Sufficed to say, Picard was not amused.

"... And then they will have our gratitude."

"I can't live out my days as that person! That man is bereft of passion... and imagination! That is not who I am! I would rather die as the man I was than live the life I just saw."

I liked in Relics when he visited Scott in the holodeck and really took interest and honored Scott and how they thought back to their first times falling in love. Then later his "request" to Laforge.

"I can't live out my days as that person! That man is bereft of passion... and imagination! That is not who I am! I would rather die as the man I was than live the life I just saw."

Au contraire! He is the person you wanted to be: one who was less arrogant and undisciplined in his youth, one who was less like me... The Jean-Luc Picard you wanted to be.

^ Just a great episode, all around.

For me, it has to be "The Defector":

Tomalak: "I urge you, Captain Picard, surrender. Consider the men and women you would lead into a lost cause."
Picard: "If the cause is just and honorable, they are prepared to give their lives. Are you prepared to die today, Tomalak?"
Tomalak: "I expected more than an idle threat."
Picard: "Then you shall have it. Mr. Worf."

All I could do after witnessing that scene was whisper "The man has balls of titanium!"

Being a Niner and recently going back to enjoy the Cardassian capture of Picard.

"THERE ARE FOUR LIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!!!"

:D

:)

Might seem an odd choice, but the episode Data's Day. Picard charges into the neutral zone on a rescue mission, justice and truth backing him up, only to have the Romulans hand him his hat. The look on Stewart's face, grinding his teeth, as Picard is force to back down. I don't remember if Data's Day was after The Defector, but the two endings balance each other, you don't always win.

:)

But are they K'Vort birds of prey? It would seem to make sense that the Klingon ships were behind their respective Romulan target ships. From the perspective of the camera, the wing span of the Klingon ships are about the same width as the Romulan ships beam. At least the two farther Klingon ships are larger than a BoP.
