I doubt Picard would've remained on the station during the Circle siege. He probably would've willingly turned it over to the Bajorans. No more SF on DS9. It'd be quite different, IMO.
Nah, look at Insurrection. ...Never mind - no one should be forced to. How about "Ensign Ro" where he defies his superior's orders to get to the truth? I don't know how that whole scenario would have worked out...maybe he'd hold a diplomatic summit on the station and use the time to uncover the Kressari smuggling for the Cardassians plot, but at the end of the day, he wouldn't abandon the Bajorans anymore than Sisko could. If only because they both had a 7-year contract on the show.
Sisko in the Nexus...what the hell would that be like? What kind of rapport would he and Kirk develop? Or with the rest of his bridge crew? Would he command the Enterprise when he was Picard's age? Otherwise, wouldn't he be younger than Riker? I wonder if he and Data would have been weird pals. I can see him getting a kick out of Data's unique personality and depending on his steadfast gumption and brilliance.
About Wesley...when TNG ran, I just thought of him as a regular kid, after a fashion, and not this wunderkind. But as a wunderkind, and for a moment considering him going down a darker path, I'm picturing him an Nog doing more of what Nog and Jake did with the stembolts - initially just getting into mischief. I can see the two of them taking over some abandoned ore-processing bay and forming a base of operations from which to do increasingly more eyebrow-raising stuff. At some point, Wesley goes all mad scientist and starts conducting experiments while Nog's busy spending cash they earned on latinum threaded suits and females at Quark's. Wesley comes across old Cardassian programs and research...somewhere I see Pah-wraiths and ruptures in the space-time continuum coming about.
