Picard: Trek's Answer to the MCU?

What about him? Last time I checked, he ain't in Trek (and wouldn't fit in there.) And I hold Trek to a different standard than an actual superhero franchise, where it stands to reason the main character would be a superhero. Trek is indeed fantasy, but it ain't that kind of franchise.
Well I don't think that any of the characters qualify as superheroes, but this was all sprung off of Danja's assertion that Seven and Elnor might qualify whle Dahj/Soji wouldn't because...
I really don't consider Soji a superhero. Like Data, she's doing what she was designed to do.

I don't consider that impressive.
Whatever the source of their "powers," Dahj and Soji are more overtly superhuman compared to those around them than Seven or Elnor. Actual superheroes have a variety of origins. Some are androids. Some come from alien races whose members all share their powers.

That's like saying the Vision or Red Tornado aren't superheroes.

I think that, since 2009, Star Trek has become too much like comic book franchises, in the assumption that it is not so much about ideas, as iconic characters. Both Discovery and Picard have suffered from this; Disco through defining Burnham through her relation to Spock, then recasting Sarek, Spock, and Pike, among others; Picard though Picard himself, the many returning characters, and the focus on Data's legacy, all at the expense of the new characters, the Romulans, and any new civilisations (it's the first trek show without any new species among the regular cast).

Historically, Star Trek was always more about ideas than characters. That was how it could come back without recasting any of the original characters, and periodically give us a whole new cast again in the same universe. Had it taken the 'comic book' attitude earlier, there would have been no Picard, just various versions of Kirk, Spock, and their crew.

the Romulans
Picard has done more with the Romulans than Trek has ever done.

Good. Trek has so many species in it now that there isn't a need to add more on at this point.

I don't know if this is true. Star Trek has staying power as much for the iconic du of Kirk and Spock as the ideas of humanity surviving to the future.

While they are doing recasting, Star Trek has actually avoided the comic book trap with just reboot and reboot. Regardless of what one thinks of Peck's Spock, there production team is trying to expand upon the lore, rather than just rebooting.

I think, with the reestablishment of the viability of Star Trek as a brand we will see more within the universe.

I just had a though. Ever wonder why we hear next to nothing about Discovery Season 3 other than months old vague trailer? The release date has got to be very soon now, but we have no confirmation of release date, nor new trailers. I think, that maybe, and it would fit the new STU is that Discovery Season 3 is a direct sequel to Picard Season 1. Something will happen in Picard season finale that will be continued on Discovery. Maybe Discovery shows up in 2399 on the way to their final destination in the future. Maybe they will also help out in the final battle between, Borg, Romulans, Federation and whoever the Big Bad is. Something like that. I wouldn't put it past producers of pulling something like that.

Maybe it will be like the end of Space Seed with them stating, "That might not be a problem for hundreds of years." Or something like that.

Personally, I'm mixed because I could see that being small universe and yet I really want it too.
