Picard: Trek's Answer to the MCU?

In 1994-1995, when TNG, DS9, and VOY were dealing with the Maquis Storyline, that was the most interconnected Star Trek ever felt. When we have multiple Star Trek series dealing with the same story line at the same time again, that's when we'll be back at where we briefly were in the middle of the '90s.

DSC and PIC are separated by time. DS9 and VOY were separated by space. The only time we ever had two series overlapping time and space was when DS9 started and TNG hadn't finished yet.

So, what Star Trek did before? Berman era Trek involved TNG leading in to DS9 and VOY with conflicts previously established in TNG taking on new meaning in the spin off (Cardassians and Bajaor in DS9, Maquis and Starfleet with VOY, in broad strokes). More than that, individuals seem to forget that "Unification" was set up to directly reference "The Undiscovered Country" in terms of events and Spock's roll, since Leonard Nimoy would be appearing in TNG.

Right now, the only two people on Picard who are even CLOSE to being Marvel superheroes are Seven of Nine and Elnor (he of the mad sword skills). :shifty:

Soji would have to count, as well.
and if you count past characters with extreme abilities, you'd have to include (not counting folks like Q, and Apollo)

Gary Mitchell, almost any Vulcan, Flint, all augments (including Bashir), The Sisko, Airiam, Saru, and lets be honest.. Kirk.

Odo is a shocking omission as is Deanna Troi.

I really don't consider Soji a superhero. Like Data, she's doing what she was designed to do.

I don't consider that impressive.

Troi is an absolute joke (unless you consider stating the blindingly obvious a superpower :shifty: ). The less said about her, the better.

Odo is not coming back anytime soon (R.I.P., Rene :( ).

Star Trek was already connected like the MCU in the 90s. So that doesn't make any sense.

Kevin Feige, showrunner of the MCU, is a TNG fan. "Endgame's" time travel was even inspired by the time travel aspect of TNG's finale. The actor's signatures during the credits were a reference to the actor's signatured in the credits of ST6. You can be pretty sure Feige took some lessons how Berman steered the Star Trek ship with its four TV series and the movies, keeping it all artistically in tune.

Not particularly disagreeing with you on the point, but how do you feel about Vision? Is he also not a super hero because he was designed?

So who is going to be their Thanos? Someone who is going to bring ENT, TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY together to defeat them?
