Picard: Status of the Enterprise?

Look, I said in a previous thread it's under the command of a character played by Connie Britton.

Or Vera Farmiga. Either is fine.

You'd hope that the Enterprise-E is still around, and I don't see why it wouldn't be. The Enterprise-D had a relatively short lifespan compared to the TOS Enterprise, we see in All Good Things it would still be around. If the Enterprise ever pops up, I imagine from that Stewart has talked about so far, it'd be at the end of the show.

Yeah, it surprises me that people assume that the Ent-E would be gone by now. Kirk's Enterprise was supposed to have had 20 years of service behind her before he took command.

If they have a good, story-specific dramatic reason for it being gone, sure. But if the status of the Ent-E is only going to be a story-insignificant background detail, then I'd think they should err on the side of it still being around.

And I'm saying this as somebody who never became fond of that particular ship.

I kind of like the idea of both Picard and Riker being retired. It sort of suggests that Starfleet service isn't the end-all of everything in their lives. But it could be that while Riker is happy in his life after Starfleet, Picard isn't.

Well...having seen the trailer...I wonder if Starfleet has a very strange law saying that if you retire from them you have to go living in a house with an 1980s style kitchen (Riker, Kirk and I bet Picard has one too...)

I still think the Enterprise-E has been destroyed. That's what I'll go with unless Picard or a Picard-related Short Trek shows otherwise.
With all these cameo PoP uPs throughout these Star Trek: Picard previews, I'm sure the Enterprise, in some form, will make an appearance. I was wondering which vessel does Picard deem more; it seemed to me he had a fondness for both the Galaxy Class and the ugly looking 1701-E?

Picard probably still has more fondness for the Stargazer, IMO, even after all these years.

One thing in Star Trek that always bugged me was the ships' lifespans. There was 26 years between the C and D, the D lasted like 10 years, blew up, but the E took only a few years to build. I'd hope that would last 30+ years and is still around.

Also I think Picard loves all his ships, but didn't he command Stargazer for twice as long as the D or E so I'd go with that.

It did, right there in the latest trailer! It's a hologram model, but that certainly counts as "appearing in some form." I hope the 1701-E doesn't make an appearance (or, as some believe, it was destroyed in the armada and that's why Picard left Starfleet).

I suspect Picard has more fondness for the D, going from his discussion with Scotty in Relics (your first ship is the one you remember best). Furthermore, the average TNG fan is probably more attached to the D than the E.

The thing with the TNG era was that Picard never expressed a love for the Enterprise (either -D or -E) the same way Kirk did in TOS. Sure, Picard valued her as his ship as any captain would, but the closest he came to being actually possessive of the Enterprise was in First Contact, and I think that had more to do with him not wanting to surrender one more thing to the Borg than anything else, IMO.

I hope we either see the enterprise e or a galaxy class for old time sake it's a missed opportunity if we don't. I don't think we will since it seems to be making all the characters we know and love outsiders and civilians now I would have had riker as captain of the e it's long overdue.

I feel like you only include a previous Enterprise here if its iconic, which the Deviantart-ish E is not - seen as it was in three movies, two of which are arguably bad but unarguably forgotten. Hence why the Galaxy-class hologram at Starfleet Command got everyone excited but a similar rendering of a Sovereign-class might've looked a bit how ya goin. So, may as well just go for something new. In my opinion anyway. I really don't know anything.

Thank you for understanding my question. I would believe so as well as you mentioned about the episode "Relics", there's also a moment in the episode "Starship Mine" where Picard on the bridge of the Enterprise, alone, touches the tactical railing - mesmerized by how beautiful it was. It expressed to me how much he loved the Enterprise and was damn proud to be in command of her.
