Spoilers Picard News & Reviews from Outside Sources

Not sure if I'll follow Starfleet Academy, but I'll watch the final season of Discovery and finish Picard, of course. Both Lower Decks and Prodigy are breaths of fresh air to me. And Strange New Worlds, while I still have some quibbles with it, has found a pretty good balance between serialization and episodic formats.

I'm looking forward to being done with these discussions as well. I see "The Last Generation" as the grand finale to Trek. Our "Avengers: Endgame"

I'm looking forward to discussing how it all ends, and then having closure on Star Trek.

I've had the feeling for weeks now that come Thursday we'll get something bittersweet. I never thought of The Last Generation as being the send off for all of Trek, not just the TNG cast, but I suspect you're right. This last season of Picard represents the last little bit of Trek that was touched by Roddenberry's hand.

Except for STAR TREK: Strange New Worlds that has the first onscreen Starship Captain character of Christopher Pike (and Number One, Spock and Uhura).

Why can't we just get the Galaxy class back?

Whoa, I guess it makes sense that this is the last stop for some folks, but I'm here until I drop, or the franchise drops.

Yeah, likewise. I've found something to enjoy in almost every iteration of Trek, so I try to give them all a chance. Some never take, some I'll never rewatch, but they're usually worth giving a look. I'm actively looking forward to Academy, esp. with some of the LDS crew on the creative end of things.

I'm not keen on the other Nu Trek offerings at this point. I don't want to be a fan of these shows into my 30s.. in the years ahead, they are written for too young an audience (especially the cartoons, STD and the inevitable CW Starfleet Academy).

The intellectual and philosophical exploration/discourse of most of TNG/DS9 is very rare in Nu Trek, so unless a showrunner comes on board that I'm confident in (that really knows how to do Star Trek), I'm good with accepting that the best days of this franchise is behind it and moving on

Since this is the news from outside sources thread, I'll admit I'm definitely on the exact same page as Redlettermedia when it comes to current Star Trek. It's looking likely that Picard S3 will be their final Trek review. I'm looking forward to discussing how it all ends, and then having closure on Star Trek.
SNW is better. At everything.

Should he be punished for what was PICARD S2 too?;)

(He was showrunner and executive producer for both and S3 started shooting the Monday after they finished shooting S2.)

Usually people don't answer when they criticize the season 2 writers and I point out Matalas was co showrunner, came up with the season plots, and season 2 had many of the same writers as season 3.

I do invite you, at some point, to give SNW a chance.

Is good Trek

My money's on the former before the latter!
I'll probably binge SNW S2 at some point when I re-subscribe to Paramount+ for DSC S5.

But as far as the day-to-day craziness, after over five years of it here, I'm more than happy to put all of that behind me.
