Spoilers Picard News & Reviews from Outside Sources

I told you, I read industry dirtsheets. They are posted online on a couple of Discord servers.

For more mainstream, search Google for "Alex Kurtsman hard to work with" There are many accounts. I can't cite industry dirtsheets on the discord server unelss you are a member of that server. It's for industry insiders.

Same Discord servers that got your spoilers from?

Yawning definitely contagious.

I googled it and found this:

"Supposedly he's very easy to work with and is a great go-between with the crew, actors and production company executives.

In short, he's not a bad guy and he's well liked."

Other results are just viewers complaining about him because they don't like the things he has been involved with or are mad he is in charge of Star Trek.

Found more from the google search you recommended:

"I worked with Bob and Alex years ago, before they became, well, Bob and Alex. They were and are two very smart and talented writers who understand the business, know what it takes to write successful film and TV franchises, and have shown time and again that they have the talent and drive to make it happen. They don’t pretend to be Robert Towne, Joe Mankewitz, Garson and Kanin, John Huston, or any of the other legendary screenwriters of the past. They are writers for today’s audience. They know their audience, they know how to deliver stories that appeal to that audience, and rather than tearing them down out of spite or jealousy, other writers would do well to try to understand what it is that Kurtzman and Ortiz get that the rest of you don’t."

"i’ve never worked with them but i’ve met them a few times; they seem to be nice guys."

"From what I understand, these guys are actually very nice guys and they take the poison spit that’s thrown their way in stride. "

"Orci and Kurtzman are class acts all the way. They are accessible, respectful and very hard working. There’s no reason to hate on them except pure jealousy."

"Has anyone on this list of comments actually read a K&O screenplay? Not seen a movie and judged it from afar, but read the text? Because I have. Multiple. They have a unique skill set that is nearly impossible to find. They can take extremely technical, colorful action and distill it into clean, concise, efficient writing."

"I’m not a fan of their work but the bottom line is that they deliver what the producers/directors ask for and are reportedly very easy to work with."

"Agree with RB. Met the guys only once but they were very nice. Hollywood wants popcorn fluff and they write it well. They are smart, business-minded screenwriters with good agents."

"Whoever naysays against these two is simply put — a jealous hack. I challenge anyone to find two more generous, hardworking, and classy people in this town. They deserve all the success they get."

It's funny last week when I asked if those leaked pictures were from episode 9, 10, or both he said he couldn't tell me LOL
And wouldn't say what they were or anything about the source, and finally said it's a small private source none of us can see anyway :D

This is a complete load of bullshit and you are absolutely talking out of your arse.

Kurtzman is very highly regarded in hollywood as an executive producer, showrunner and writer. He's done nothing but support every current Trek showrunner to make the show they want to make. Terry Matalas himself, is on record as saying that Kurtzman supported everything he wanted to do with Picard Season. So forgive me, if i don't believe you and your horseshit 'insiders'.

How convenient.
Yep. Basically, "my sources are secret (but I'll repeat what they in public)" is a giveaway that someone's talking through their hat.

Just call 'em on it.

How perfect. Thanks. :techman:

Not only that, but he's also really pushing for a Legacy show and is excited about the possibility. He's been working with Kurtzman since 2019 and has other non trek work lined up, such as a pilot for Disney. No doubt he's discussed his ideas with Kurtzman. If it were such a negative experience I don't see him wanting to continue working for him as much as he does.

Yeah, but I'm not going to be watching SNW (no idea about SFA), so it's not anything I'll have to put up with. But you guys on the other hand, best of luck! You'll need it.

Naaah, I’ll go back to my posting once or twice per episode with SNW2. This has been entertaining but exhausting. And I have a wife and two kids at home and three direct reports at work to take care of.

I'll be glad to be done with this after three more days (except for a few months in 2024). Not the show, the show is great. But all of... this.
I hear that - I've got scripts I need to write and drawings to work on... on top of my actual career, so I could do with a few less distractions, as much fun as it's been.

I'm looking forward to being done with these discussions as well. I see "The Last Generation" as the grand finale to Trek. Our "Avengers: Endgame"

I'm not keen on the other Nu Trek offerings at this point. I don't want to be a fan of these shows into my 30s.. in the years ahead, they are written for too young an audience (especially the cartoons, STD and the inevitable CW Starfleet Academy).

The intellectual and philosophical exploration/discourse of most of TNG/DS9 is very rare in Nu Trek, so unless a showrunner comes on board that I'm confident in (that really knows how to do Star Trek), I'm good with accepting that the best days of this franchise is behind it and moving on

Since this is the news from outside sources thread, I'll admit I'm definitely on the exact same page as Redlettermedia when it comes to current Star Trek. It's looking likely that Picard S3 will be their final Trek review. I'm looking forward to discussing how it all ends, and then having closure on Star Trek.
