Picard Comm Badge is new?

How is it a failure? It keeps what we know and changes it up.
that is what i call a massive failure of imagination.
Nearly every single possible future we saw in the TNG era shows used the AGT badge, which seems to imply that it was very possible outcome. Keeping it similar keeps it true to what came before.
i don't think adhering to what was always considered an alternate future aesthetic is a particularly interesting choice, even if it is slightly altered for the new show. but it's also just a missed opportunity, the designers could've done something new and given this era its own identity, instead they're relying on a 25 year old design because what? continuity?
it is very close. does this excite anyone?
i don't think this is really very reasonable. if anything, these shows are over designed. they pour money into sets and costumes and props. i don't buy that this is just a shoulder shrug because starfleet isn't integral to the story. if it is, then yeah still a failure of imagination. and bad production design.
no because the split was a new approach to a very old design. i'm not saying i'm upset or hate this, but i do think it's a bad choice not to do something totally original.
If totally original is desirable, why do Star Trek? I'm sure Patrick Stewart would have been good at something completely different and original, too.
We knew something like 2.47 things about this era in advance:
- holographic controls
- commbadges that look like that
- Picard may have the Irumodic Syndrome, or then not
Those are our anchorpoints. All the rest can be as creative as it needs to be. Let's not disappoint on those 2.47, though.

The uniforms and SF symbol were remarkably consistent in all 3 versions of the future we've seen (AGT, Visitor, Endgame), so I thought it should actually be a very good estimate of how the future might turn out. If already 3/3 glimpses into that era had the same designs, although major events were totally different, it apparently is quite a trend in fashion

While I'm not a big fan of the badge and prefer the guesstimate TNG 30th anniversary fan version, I do like how they moved the split slightly, so instead of being in the middle it's in the Discovery spot.they still did their own thing, it isn't a 1:1 copy. The one in picard has a curved delta, while the one in AGT was all straight edges. The cut off the top corners, and moved the split to the right side.
Plus, continuity-wise them using what is still essentially the "All Good Things" badge 25 years later is crazy cool.

Or budget. They traced on a piece of tinfoil over paperboard and whipped out an xacto knife then glued it to the fabric?!
(If this were a show that didn't rely on huge budgets to sell itself, but it is a fascinating juxtaposition...)

This is a hat worn by an actor at a Con, not a picture from the show.
You can see the actual badge in the trailers, it's as 3D as all the other series.
I know I say this in every thread, but I much preferred the 30th anniversary style badge some fans guesstimated based on the leaked Starfleet HQ photos.

some people just have a life uniform even civilians. I tend to wear very similar clothes from day to day. It’s just my style. Summer tome I wear just a T-Shirt with the pocket on the right, jeans and tenni shoes. I buy different colored T-Shirts for a little change but it’s basically the same everyday.
The comm badge should have nacelles and act as a drone in certain situations.
