Had the Nexus already been to Veridian III then?
I think they had a couple of shots at destroying the sun but how did they get there in the first place if the Nexus had never been there, I'm so confused.

No, but it was going to be. Remember, it's a temporal nexus: the meeting of all time in one place.

The energy ribbon is a "temporal nexus," as described by Picard to Kirk. It is literally the meeting of all time in one place.

But Picard only said that because that’s what Guinan’s echo said to him. The real Guinan and Soran never said anything about the Nexus being some temporal gateway. So if Guinan’s echo was just making that up for the sake of Picard’s fantasy, then the Nexus really has no time travel capability or ability to send people back out of it to any point in time.

Did Picard know that?

I don’t know; you’d have to ask Picard. But I’m sure Picard knew what Kirk looked like and probably knew where Kirk retired to before he died. Perhaps we didn’t see Antonia clearly because Picard didn’t know what she looked like?

Seems TNG those characters are very acute to history, especially Earth's history. These TNG computers seems to have an accurate record of a lot of things. I'm sure Picard would've been interested in previous Masters who commanded the Enterprise. It's interesting Picard was not able to see Antonia; it's possible Picard never bothered to see a record of her. You can't imagine a woman you never seen before.

Interesting theory. Just one question.

Given that Picard has a sincere wish to leave the Nexus, why would it want to fool him and keep him in? Does it have an ulterior motive?

I don't see the Nexus as a living being, but some kind of weird time thing that messes with a person's mind. Picard may wish to leave the Nexus so it made him believe he left because that was his wish, but in reality he is still floating in this thing thinking he is out. If it were to kick him out he would be a dead lifeless body floating in space.
