Phasers?

Have we see any hand phaser designs yet? I saw something slightly odd in one of the interviews, that they were having hold-ups on a shoot because they couldn't get the phasers to spin as intended.

Enquiring minds want to know - what's suppose to spin? the barrel?

That description made me think of the Pike era laser pisols, which had the three-nozel emitter set-up. Would be cool if these new pistols are a souped version of them.

I remember the spin of them being mentioned, have no idea what's up with that. We'll see, but it really does have a Rocket Rangers kind of sound to it.

The EW article does indeed mention some sort of barrel, that spins when shifting from "stun" to "kill" (sort of a user-friendly reminder for those thick redshirts... )
