Phase II George Takei Episode

Apologies if already covered but as I couldn't find it anywhere I thought I would post this here.

Has anyone else here recently seen the Phase II (formerly New Voyages) fan film focusing on the Sulu character, as originally played by guest star George Takei?

It's astonishingly good for a fan production but I think it does well because a large part of the acting falls to two professional actors. I think it was nominated for an award but lost out to the episode of Doctor Who that first featured the weeping angels. That's nothing to be ashamed of!

Ooo! Ooo! I've seen it! I think it's great!

That was my thought as well. Having professionals in big parts really did elevate everyone's game, I thought. It's interesting to note that "Project: Potemkin" went with a drama professor to play their captain and tried to use as many people with acting experience as possible in supporting roles. I think that's something that more fan productions should try to do, but then again, if it's just for fun, (which Star Trek productions have to be) why not put yourself in it? Just depends on what you're ultimate goal is I guess.

I bet you have. I just bet you have. I like the premise behind it, as I am a huge admirer of Mr. Takei.

Far and away the best fan production yet. Makes all others seem like child's play. It's a great script, and GT plays it well.

Agreed, George brings his full acting skills to bear for it, IMHO. He brings quality to the proceedings, and is an exceptional actor. I wonder if he plans or has been asked to do more?

We at Phase II have no scripts in the pipeline that would feature either an old Sulu (again) or even one that would feature George in some non-Sulu role. It would be great for us to work with him again, but I would be concerned about dipping into that well one too many times. (We have so many other intresting stories to tell!)

I confess I'd like to see a Phase II production without guest stars. I'm full of this suspicion that you could do something even better if you just focused on doing the best possible episode. But, then, if I were wrong, wouldn't be the first time...

Maybe this is a dumb question ... What is the best way to view episodes of Phase II? I am having trouble finding certain episodes (e.g., The Child, Origins). Perhaps they haven't been released yet?

Those episode have, indeed NOT YET been released (although I have hopes for The Child in 2012...)

Actually, I rather like the guest stars, when it suits the episode. I also wouldn't mind seeing a few spinoffs, after seeing the funny Nixon episode. I would love to see a one-shot George Takei episode set on the USS Excelsior during the movie era (with no flashbacks to the past). Put James Cawley in as Kirk's nephew serving on the Excelsior as a bridge officer, and away you go! :)

Oh, a one-shot with Captain Harriman on the Enterprise-B would be cool too! ;)
