Phase II Constitution Class

I guess I could blame the bad combination of the lighting rig, the effects and the texture..but in the end it's just one of the tings I have still to fix. :p

Oh, don't take it as a criticism of the lighting rig. :D Heck, the soft shadows are great--almost looks like radiosity. I like the high-contrast lighting; a lot of amateur CG artists are afraid of deep shadows. I was just angling for a few renders with the key light in a different place so we could se that bad boy. ;)

I love it and it is really faithful to Matt Jeffierys' original designs for the Phase 2 Enterprise ! Please give us some more angles this is great!

A darn fine model.
I was thinking about doing this in the near future (still might), but you set the bar pretty high.

That's very nice. It's such a good 'in-between' design.

But that font at the side... yeah.. not good! It's the generic Impact-y font.. it should be the same as the saucer.

VERY nice -- The only thing(s) that bug me are the big red "bull's eyes"/target spots on the bottom of the nacelles and secondary hull... :eek:

Mind you, if they're present on the various drawings and what-not of the Phase II ENT that you used for reference, then I guess I can live with them. Still... YIKES!

Cheers,

I believe that those hull markings were intended by Matt Jefferies to depict propulsion reactor access ports. :)

TGT

One request? Purely for aesthetic reasons.. any chance we can see a version which has the p/s registry on the back of the warp engines (ala TMP), rather than on the secondary hull?

@Colonel Midnight: TGT is right, it's supossed to be some kind of hatch. IIRC the TOS-Connie had something simmilar like that...

@Vance:
Hm, I honestly don't see how this should be better:

pick-pick-pick-pick-pick...

Seriously, make the model YOU want to make. If you want to do the original as presented (which I'm personally interested in seeing), do so. If I say I want it to have a big satellite dish in lieu of the planetary sensor dome... you have every right to say "screw you, this is MY model." ;)

@Cary L. Brown:You're right, it's my model. But on the other hand I was a little bit curious myself how it would look like if the registry would be on the nacelles. And I don't realy see the point in putting them there, especially since I realy like the registry on the secondary hull. It's one of the most prominent things I think of, when I'm thinking of the ship.

@Outpost4: lol.

@dru: I honestly haven't thought about releasing it to the public. First thing is that I don't see a "market" for the Phase II connie, since not many fans know about the series and second thing is I'm not quite sure if the model is good enough to be published. And if I'm going to publish it, I realy like to see some nice pictures of it, I don't want it to rott on someone's computer...

i like this version as well :thumbsup:

btw i do know about Star Trek: Phase 2 and why it was turned into Startrek: The Motion Picture :)

Well, since you're taking nitpicks... ;-)

The docking port you have on the secondary hull seems to be a TMP-style port... it's quite deep and different in color. You might... if you're going for the best fidelity to the original intent... want to make it more closely resemble the detail you can see in the production photo higher up in this thread... a much shallower inset with the pentagonal docking port inside of it.

Just my 2cents...
