Mokara’s motionless body was at Marilina’s feet. She, at the young age of a child, was now a murderer. It was as if somehow, someway, her mind acted on her own. She looked down at the mother Pachan, as her five pups nursed upon her, just feet from Mokara’s dead body. And at that instant, as Marilina and the animal looked at each other, Marilina understood what had happened. The animal had taken control of her mind, and in so doing, the actions of her body, and had killed Mokara. She stepped back, still sharing a glance with the animal. Suddenly she felt two arms come around her.

Marilina looked up at the adult who she had backed into at the entrance of the small alcove inside the cave. It was none other than Enucien, the elder who had, for the several decades, given the opening speech at the yearly hunt.

“Young child,” Enucien said to her, “do not be afraid.”

“I have killed another,” Marilina said, “I am a criminal.”

“No, you are not.” Enucien said. “You are a visitor to our world, so you can not be considered to be a criminal.”

Uhura realized that Enucien was talking, not to the girl, but to her, Uhura, through thoughts. Uhura, in the form of the child Marilina, surrounded by the coldness of the cave, looked up to Enucien.

“You are talking to me,” Uhura said. “How is this possible?”

“My child,” Enucien said to her, “what you have just witnessed did indeed transpire long before your arrival to this world. Ever so often, and it is very rare, a child will be born with a special gift. The gift is an innate ability to telepathically communicate, and even control the actions of a Pachan, and have their minds controlled by the Pachan as well. The Emarians themselves evolved from a common ancestor to both, which may explain this rare anomaly.”

“What happened to the girl?” Uhura, in the form of Marilina, asked.

“She was found, right here in this cave, by the elder I am in the form in, holding the bloodied K’aloot. And because this happened at a time when the Emarian customs were more pronounced, she was accused and then, later, convicted of the crime, and was, as the law provided, burned at the stake.”

Suddenly the cave around Marilina disappeared. Marilina still remained, but the surroundings changed. She was nearly a year older, near the age of nine years old, naked, and was tied to a large wooden totem. Her parents were among the cheering throng, throwing small rocks at Marilina in disdain for what she had done.
She, Marilina/Uhura, could see the hatred in her parent’s eyes. And then Marilina began to feel the first spears of pain. She looked down at her naked feet, which were reddened as the fire, which was creeping up the stacked column of wood and hay, was getting higher and higher, and closer to her.

Enucien was there as well. He had given the final words, condemning her for what she had done. He was the one, upon finishing his reading of the last words, lit the torch, and upon dropping it, lit the column of wood and other material that was now burning up towards Marilina.

For a child not to kill a Pachan, as all Emarians do, was bad enough. But to kill another Emarian, while trying to protect the slaughter of a Pachan, was out right murder. And the punishment, being burned by the stake, had been passed down from the olden times. Euncien, having completed the last words, looked to Marilina/Uhura, and spoke outside the events directly to her.

“This was the common fate that those who were able to communicate with the Pachan would face,” Enucien said to her, “being burned at the stake; and is still administered to this day. But in the modern times, the time in which you are visiting Emaria, an entire industry has grown up around the festival. And now it goes on all year long. The festival is the yearly beginning to the Pachan fighting season. This is where the animals are forced to fight to the death. And those who claim to be able to communicate with the Pachan, and are trying to prove they are sentient beings, are defamed, or even outright jailed, even burned at the stake, for suggesting an end to what has become the very back bone to Emarian culture; the exploitation of the Pachan. This is an aspect to our world our leaders will never show you.”

“What do you want from me?” Marilina asked as the fire came closer to her feet. “We are just visitors to your world.

“On the outskirts of the main city you are in,” Euncien said to her, “there is a mountain range to the north. There is a herd of Pachan located there. All I ask is that, as you leave our world, you take two of us with you, one male and one female. Our numbers on Emaria are very low now. The Pachan will be extinct in the coming years; this is the last chance we have to ensure that the Pachan will survive into the future.”

“How is it we are communicating?” Marilina/Uhura asked, “if Marilina is dead?”

Then, suddenly, it was over.

At that moment, Uhura was shocked out of her contact with the Pachan, just in time to see

Lt Uhura knew this was the only chance she had at helping save two of the Pachan, and in all actuality, their species. She stood up from her post and made her way down to the second level of the bridge. As she did, she slid her hands into her slack’s pocket and made sure that the knife she had brought to the bridge was still there; it was. For Uhura, this seemed like a logical course of action, seeing the Captain while armed with a weapon; but she was obviously unaware her mind was still under the control of the Pachan.

Kirk looked over to Uhura as she came down to the lower level and stood next to him.

“Uhura, what brings you down to my humble abode?” Kirk asked in his usual relaxed way.

“Captain,” Uhura said to him, “I was wondering if you could do me a favor.”

“Sure,” Kirk said, giving her his attention.

“I noticed that our departure course will take us past the western continent of Emaria,” Uhura said as she looked at the main screen.

Kirk looked down to Chekhov who looked back at him and nodded in the affirmative.

“Our course will indeed pass over the western continent,” Chekhov said to Kirk. “We will be there in less than five minutes sir.”

Kirk looked back to Uhura.

“What would you like us to do when we get there, Lieutenant?” Kirk asked.

“I know this request will sound strange, but believe me I am very serious, I would like you to,” Uhura said as she reached out and typed coordinates on the touch-screen on the arm of Kirk’s chair, “beam up two mammalian life forms, called Pachan, from these coordinates.”

Chekhov looked back from her navigation post.

“Nyota,” Chekhov said, “I thought the fight offended you.”

“What are you talking about?” Kirk asked.

Scotty, who had been nominally listening to the conversation, replied from his engineering post on the upper level.

“Last night,” Scotty said, “Uhura, Chekhov, and Doctor McCoy and I went to an animal fight; and McCoy’s beastie won. I still can’t believe it. Unfortunately Nyota was offended by seeing such a spectacle; I take full responsibility.”

“So,” Kirk said, “what does this have to do with the western continent?” Kirk asked.

“These barbaric fights the Emarian’s cheer for,” Uhura said, “will lead to the Pachan extinction in less than a hundred years. To ensure their species survival, I must please ask that you beam two of them up to the ship, and take them with us on our journey home. They will be waiting at those coordinates.” Uhura pleaded.

Kirk looked back to Spock, and then he looked back to Uhura.

“Lt,” Kirk said, “Nyota, I can’t just beam wild animals up to the ship without making sure they pose no threat to us, or even to the animals. And even then, I would need to get permission from the Emarian government,” Kirk said. “I appreciate your concern for these animals, but…”

Before Kirk could say another word, Uhura stepped quickly behind his chair, withdrew her knife, and put it at Kirk’s throat.

“Nyota!” Chekhov said, seeing the sudden change of events.

Spock, Scotty, and the security officer on the bridge, as well as Chekhov, all stood from their posts and converged on Kirk and Uhura.

“Stand back!” Uhura said to them all, “All of you! If you do not beam up the two Pachans, I will kill Captain Kirk.” Uhura told them all.

“Nyota,” Chekhov pleaded, “what are you doing?”

“I’m sorry Captain,” Uhura said to Kirk, “but I must do this. These animals are forced to fight, to the death, and they are sentient beings. They are innocent, and can not be allowed to fight for the pleasure of others.”

“Its okay Uhura,” Kirk said, as the cold blade was pressed to his neck, “We can get through this.”

“We will have to open communications with the Emarians,” Spock said to Uhura and Spock.

“No!” Uhura replied. “Just beam them up,” Uhura said, “Just do as I say, or I will kill him.” Uhura yelled.

The crew looked to Spock.

“Captain,” Spock said, “the Federation Prime Directive would apply here. Beaming those animals up would violate section 548, paragraph eighteen, sub-paragraph…”

“Ye can’t be serious,” Scotty said to Spock, “ya canna let the captain to be killed over some document.”

Spock thought for a moment.

“Colonel Pike did only notify us of Earth’s joining the Federation very recently.” Spock said, “However, we have not received official notification from the Federation as of yet. I think we can set aside the decrees, and face further penalty if it should later be decide we acted in violation of the directive.” Spock looked to Chekhov. “Transfer the coordinates to the Transporter room and prepare to beam-up the Pachan.”

“Are you sure about this Spock?” Kirk asked, while very much wanting to live.

Some of these mods are just out of control, and no one seems to care.

So..I hope you follow me over to AD ASTRA where I will continue to post my stories, and post on the forums there as well. Its been a fun ride at BBS; from FRANK GRAYSON to THE ESSIANS to PHASE TWO(s). Love ya all!!!

The USS ENTERPRISE approached a strange and very large construct that had, at first, appeared on the long-range sensors, but now was directly ahead. It was large, nearly five miles in length, and was in roughly a cylinder shape. The Enterprise looked like a gnat hovering around a an elephant, such was the contrast in size.

The outer surface was comprised of a substance that could not be penetrated by the sensors and after closer study by Spock, the Phasers and Photon-Torpedoes would be useless as well. But it was very clear to Kirk, and Spock, that whatever the giant object was; it had been constructed and was not a natural space anomaly, and warranted further investigation.

“I wonder what that thing is.” The new helmsman of the Enterprise, Lt. Commander Chakotay (who we have seen, sparingly of course, in past issues due to the fact he ran the Mid-check of the Enterprise) said, as he brought the ship along side the strange, but motionless, object, adrift in the vacuum of space.

“The maul of that thing could swallow a hundred ships like this, without even a chaser.” Scotty added from his engineering post on the second level of the bridge. “If it is indeed some kind of robotic device, I’d sure like to get a look at her innards.”

“Engineer,” Spock said, “I must point out that the pure size of an object does not necessarily define the power of an object.”

Both women on the bridge, Uhura and Chekhov, shared a humorous glance with each other after Spock’s comment. Though, of course, Vulcan’s never spoke with innuendo; or so that was the belief.

“Well,” Kirk said from his captain’s chair, “let’s go ahead and take some scans. Perhaps we could beam over to it, or maybe launch a probe inside the maul and see what’s inside of it.”

“Captain,” Uhura said, “what if we wake it up?”

Kirk stood up to stretch, and walked up to the upper rim of the bridge, and over to Spock’s science station.

“I think of it,” Kirk said to her, “as swimming next to a giant gray-whale. Gary and I went diving of the coast of Hawaii, and we got to do just that. As we were swimming next to that giant whale, I kind of had the impression it didn’t even know we were there. Mr. Chakotay, go and head set a heading so that we can get as close as possible, but keeping us at a safe enough distance; just incase,” Kirk said as he looked over to Uhura, “it wakes up.”

“Aye sir,” Chakotay said.

As the ship made its way along the length of the object, it was clear that there had been explosions, perhaps even evidence of attacks. The outer-skin may have been impervious to attack, but the charred remains of past attempts, or collisions with asteroids, or other space debris was very apparent.

“Captain,” Spock said to Kirk, “although it is drifting very slowly, I have been able to trace the direction in which the object came. There are three solar systems in that general direction, and on the long range sensors, I am detecting what appears to be large celestial objects in orbit of those stars. If it is at all possible, I would like to get a closer look at those solar systems. Perhaps I can take one of the shuttle-crafts and investigate those solar systems while the science labs continue the study of the object.”

Kirk thought for a moment, and then he made his decision.

“Alright,” Kirk said, “but you’re not going alone. Why don’t you take Uhura with you, just incase you come across an undetected civilization. She gives you better than even odds to be able to communicate with them.”

“Captain,” Spock said, “I assure you I can…”

“Spock,” Kirk said, “While your scanning those solar systems, it might be helpful if someone else was also scanning for communication signals. We’re all explorers out here, so she’s going with you.”

“Very well,” Spock said.

Uhura smiled at Kirk. She knew why Kirk was sending her with Spock. The Vulcan had been using his mind-meld ability to help remove the mental connection between her self and the Pachan animals. A special area of the cargo hold had been set aside for the two animals. McCoy, with Spock’s help, and been able to come up with a suppressant that took away the animal’s ability to link its minds with others.

Kirk watched as Spock and Uhura entered the Turbo-lift. He couldn’t help but think that the two, Spock and Uhura, made a cute couple. He smiled as the thought. Lt. Nadya Chekhov went over to Spock’s science section to continue the scans of the large object. The science department was heading up the investigation, which meant Kirk could leave the bridge. Spock had calculated it would take nearly four hours to scan the device, and for the probes, three of which would be launched in that time, collected their information as well. Four hours of down time mean Kirk could go pay a visit to Guinan, and so he did just that, leaving Scotty with the helm as he did.

--
An hour later, Spock expertly piloted the shuttle-craft toward the first solar system. Initial scans showed no planets in orbit of the star, however there were what appeared to be large planetary debris in unpredictable orbit of the star. The gravity of the red-star was having an effect on the large, and very numerous celestial bodies, but it would be hundred of thousand of years until the objects were in perfect orbits of the star.

“Sir,” Uhura said to Spock, “the sensors are working at peek levels. What do you make of that solar system up ahead?” Uhura asked.

“Inconclusive data right now,” Spock said to her, “and the Vulcan probes sent to this area of the galaxy did not travel to this sector. I have no direct data to go on, so what I am about to say may in time proven to be in error, however, I think the planets in this solar system were destroyed.”

“Perhaps it was a nova?” Uhura asked as the two gazed out the window of the shuttle at one of the chunks of rubble as they drifted by it.

“This system’s star is intact,” Spock said to her.

“Maybe it was a binary star system and the other star…” Uhura added.

“Not possible,” Spock said to her. “The orbital path of this star indicates it did not have a companion star.”

“Alright then,” Uhura said with a coy tone in her voice, “I told you my hypothesis, what about yours?”

Spock arched an eyebrow. Uhura had always liked the way he arched his eyebrow like that. It was hard for Uhura to believe, and the rest of the crew as well, that Spock, their Vulcan first officer, was actually hybrid life-form. Originally S.P.O.C.K. had been a computer, created by Richard Daystrom, and was mounted on the command chair of Captain Kirk. Then, later, the S.P.O.C.K. matrix had been uploaded into an android; a very android looking body.

Then, months later, while exploring an alien world, Kirk and a landing party, including the android S.P.O.C.K. came across a Vulcan, who was meditating. The Vulcan, fearful of humans, attempted a mind-meld with the S.P.O.C.K. android, causing some sort of merger. Uhura was snapped out of her reverie by Spock’s voice.

“There is insufficient data at this time to form a hypothesis.” Spock replied.

Spock went about his science scans as Uhura took over piloting the shuttle. As she looked at Spock, as he observed the instrument panel, Uhura couldn’t deny that she was attracted to the Vulcan.

The blackness of space, and a nearby star, lit the way as the shuttle-craft He Zheng, named after the famous Chinese explorer, came up along a small vessel, which was only slightly larger than the Shuttle. There was obvious pot marks cause by either small space debris, or maybe even hostile action, on the hull of the spaceship which was clearly adrift.

“I’m picking up life signs from one occupant,” Uhura said. “The ship’s atmosphere is similar to ours.” Uhura reported to Spock. “I think it will be safe to go over there sir.”

“I will use the Transporter,” Spock replied, having already decided which of them would go.

“Sir,” Uhura said, “you can’t go over there. You’re the first officer of the Enterprise, and I might point out, the commander of this ship. I should go over to the other ship.”

“Perhaps,” Spock agreed, “However, since I am the commanding officer aboard this ship, I have decided that I will be the one going over to the other ship.” He stood up from his seat and prepared to go to the small Transport station in the back of the shuttle.

Uhura took the opportunity to raise her legs across the small pathway out of the cockpit of the shuttle, and blocked Spock’s way. She looked up at him, in a coy way, and made a pouting gesture with her face.

“Are you doing this because I’m a woman, and you’re trying to protect me?” Uhura asked.

“That kind sexist act would be,” Spock said as he searched for the right word, “illogical. I have made my decision use nothing only than pure facts.”

“Then the next Captain Kirk wants to beam down, and you don’t want him to, I’ll be sure to tell the captain your logic for going this time, instead of letting your subordinate go.”

“Lt.Uhura,” Spock said to her, “I believe you are resorting to an age old Feringi custom called extortion.”

She didn’t answer him; she just glared back at him with her eyes, since she had no idea what a Feringi was.

Spock could see that she was not going to remove her legs from blocking his way. And, she was right.

“Very well,” Spock finally said. “You can beam over.”

She smiled back at him.

“No,” she said with a smile, “you can go.”

Spock was about to protest, and was beginning to wonder who had the higher rank, but then he realized he was talking to a woman. And women were known to be the most illogical creatures in the universe. (Just an inside joke to my female readers; especially to those of us who are married to one! And if I remember, Spock (TOS) did seem to think this at one point; who could blame him.)

Spock, giving up, stood up and walked over to the small, one person Transporter toward the back of the passenger cabin of the Shuttle. He nodded to Uhura, and then she activated the Transporter; Spock shimmered away.

--

The Enterprise had come to a dead stop, as ordered by Commander Montgomery Scott. Scotty had been in engineering, helping to calibrate some gear, when Lt. Commander Chakotay and Dr. McCoy came into inform him of what was the direst of information.

“Scotty,” McCoy told Scotty, who was underneath one of the control panels, while also very sweaty and greasy. “The Captain is missing.”

Scotty just stared up at the two of them.

McCoy realized it that the information was sinking in.

“With Spock away,” McCoy said, “and the Captain missing; that means you are in command.”

“Oh yea,” Scotty finally said.

The engineer scooted out from beneath the control panel he was calibrating, and stood up.

“What would ya’ like’ meee to do?” Scotty asked.

“Sir,” Chakotay said, “I think we should bring the ship to a complete halt. Then we should search the ship, bow to stern, and if we can’t find him, reverse our course and search the area of space we’ve been passing through.”

“Ya donna think that big beastie out there has anything to do with this do ya?” Scotty asked.

“There’s no telling,” McCoy said. “We have to search the ship first, as Lt. Commander Chakotay said, and then go from there.”

“Aye,” Scotty finally decided. “Let’s go ahead and do that. I want all hands up and out of their racks. We gotta find the Captain.”

“Do you want to send a signal to Spock, and let him know the Captain is missing?” Chakotay asked.

“Yes,” Scotty as the three of them headed out of engineering. “He should be informed immediately.”

And with that, the search for Captain Kirk was started.

Spock shimmered into existence inside of the alien spaceship. There was very little light, in fact the only light that illuminated the interior of the ship was from the tapestry of stars that surrounded the ship in the eternity of space.

The Tricorder that Spock held came to life. There was indeed one life form other than his on the ship, and Spock followed the readings. Though it was primarily dark, the light from the stars, and the Tricorder’s own light, was enough to show Spock that the life forms that used the spacecraft was hominoid, and roughly the same height as he was.

Finally Spock came upon what appeared to be the small cockpit of the craft. He stepped inside and found the one occupant; a female. Her very slender body showed bruises, which Spock correctly deduced came from being tossed about the flight cabin. Spock had brought a small medical pack and used it on her. A hypo to her left arm finally brought her around. Luckily the universal translator, a very impressive device constructed by the Andorian, was able to translate the female’s words.

She had a long mane of blond hair, and an air of regality as well. Her body, though slender, was very defined with strength.

“Who are you?” She asked.

“My name is Spock,” he told her. “We came upon your vessel after receiving a distress call.”

Spock let the woman drink from a packet of water.

“Thank you,” her tender voice told him. “My name is Averon,” she said as she took another sip. “My world was the forth world of this star system.”

“The forth of world of this system, as well as the planets two and three, have been destroyed.”

“Yes,” Averon said, “I know this. I was returning and saw them, those things, carve up my home world, killing billions.” Tears fell from her eyes.

“To what things do you refer?” Spock asked.

“The planet killers,” she told Spock, with fear in her words. “When the Borg attack, they swoop down and abduct those they feel can improve the Collective, and then the have the planet killer destroy the world, after the water and other needed elements are absorbed.”

“Tell me,” Spock said, “What do these planet killers look like?”

She sat up and pressed a button on her control panel. A monitor came to life and in mere moments it showed images that defied reason. Large devices were shown slicing up a world, with a large cube shaped device hanging in the near distance of black space. Averon pointed at one of the large devices slicing up her world.

“That is a planet killer,” she told Spock.

Instantly Spock new she had confirmed his earlier suspicions. The large object the Enterprise was now investigating was indeed; one of the planet killers.

“I must head back to my ship,” he told her. “I do no believe your vessel can be repaired. If you wish, you can accompany back to the Enterprise.”

She stood up, wearily, and nodded to Spock.

“Yes, I have nothing left to me here. Let me gather a few things, it will only take a short time.”

“By all means,” Spock said. “Do not delay, I must press.”

Spock continued to watch the images of the planet killers destroying the planets. He also paid close attention to the large, unmoving Borg vessel. Spock had an uneasy suspicion that the Enterprise would, in due time, come across the Borg in a more upfront way than they had when Sulu had been killed. Spock was also very sure that Gary7’s dead cat, which was actually a Borg probe, had notified the Borg of the Enterprise’s arrival into the Delta-Quadrant. And now he was quite sure that the planet killer was not found by chance.

delta3.jpg

The USS ENTERPRISE was still where it had been five days earlier. After putting a comfortable distance between themselves and the planet killer, Spock ordered the ship to a relative complete stop, so as to continue the ship-wide search for Captain Kirk. For the past five days, the crew had slept very little and no one had taken any down time for recreation or any activity that would have taken them away from the ongoing search for the Captain.

The female alien visitor named Averon (who was in actuality Trelane) was growing impatient. Averon had hoped to meet Kirk, perhaps engage with Kirk in the vile sexual behavior that the hominoids were known for, and earn the captain’s respect and see what made him so special. Averon had already ascertained as to where the Captain was; Kirk was actually back on Earth, back in the Alpha-Quadrant, over 50,000 light years away, thanks to his meddling infant son David Marcus. There were now two humans from that world, Gary Mitchell, and now Kirk’s son, who were empowered with abilities that no mere mortal should ever have at their disposal; and yet they both did.

The senior crewmembers all met in the main briefing room to give their status reports of the search for the Captain. They had now completed four searches of the ship, from bow to stern, and the dozens of search teams looked in every nook and cranny of the ship. Even Mr. Spock, the now acting Captain of the Enterprise, had come to the obvious conclusion what the four searches had finally added up to; Captain Kirk was no longer aboard the Enterprise. Averon, who had been allowed free access to the ship, requested to sit in on the briefing, hoping beyond hope that the search had ended.

Averon had come to the ship to study the humans, and to see what earned them a most interesting reputation to the higher forms of life, such as those like Trelane. What made the humans, from Earth, so special? Trelane had been sent to find out, in a subtle way.

Meanwhile, Spock listened to each search team make a report. And just as three times before, nothing of any note had been found. Spock listened, and then made his decision.

“We will start over,” Spock told them all. “Perhaps the truth has been found, that the Captain is gone. However, we will search one more time.”

“Spock,” McCoy, who sat directly next to Spock, did not agree. “I think we should move on, and let it go.”

“I am duty bound, Dr. McCoy, to exhaust all recourses in an attempt to find the Captain.”

“Ya done yer duty, sir” Scotty added, in agreement with McCoy. “No one can say you din’na try. I agree with McCoy,” Scott said. “I think we should continued on our way home. The Captain is gone, aye.”

Spock contemplated what both Scotty and McCoy had said.

“We will do one more search,” Spock said, undeterred by what they had said.

Averon shook her had. She sat on the side of the room, next to Chekhov and Chakotay. It was time to put an end to the most boring five days of her life. She snapped her fingers and then both she, and Spock, vanished. They reappeared on the outside of the Enterprise, toward the center of the ship. Spock knew something afoul was at work since neither he nor Averon had spacesuits, and yet they could still breathe.

“I would usually try to ascertain as to who and what you are.” Spock asked. “However; the most logical answer is that you are the one named Trelane that Colonel spoke of when he appeared in the same manner; or perhaps you are another of the same kind.”

Averon reverted back to the shape of Trelane.

“This is how I appeared to that blowhard Pike. My name is, indeed Trelane.” Trelane said. “I wouldn’t have taken this course of action, but I wasn’t about to waste another day of my life sitting around while you searched for your Captain.”

“Then why not send back to Earth. It is clear you must have that ability, or something rather close to it.” Spock said.

“I can’t just send you back,” Trelane said as he sat down on raised part of the ship’s hull. “Gary Mitchell has set a course of events in action that must now play out.”

“Is it that you are bound by some sort of regulation then?” Spock asked.

“Something like that,” Trelane said. “Gary Mitchell, by bringing your ship here, has set your meeting with the Borg ahead by about five-hundred Earth years.”

“We have not encountered the Borg as of yet.” Spock said.

“Sure you have,” Trelane said in an annoyed tone. “Anyway, I don’t have time to sit around and talk about such matters that waste my time. I just wanted to get your desire to search for Kirk out of your mind. Just as your minions said, you need to move on,” Trelane said. “The Borg planet killer is an efficient device, and it will come for you, even if it is damaged, as that one was that you rescued me from.”

“If you can not help our cause, then why are you allowed to reveal certain aspects of past events?” Spock asked. “Your actions are not logical.”

Trelane stood up.

“I don’t have the time to go into this, Vulcan.” Trelane said. “Just stop wasting time and get on with your trip home.”

“I can not stop the search until I know the Captain is alive, and unharmed.” Spock pressed.

Trelane snapped his fingers; and Spock found himself sitting in a strange surrounding. He was inside of a strange compartment that was lined with a blue mesh. A man was slumped over, still alive, but the obvious recipient of a blow to his head. A discarded baby seat was also in the compartment, and the door to the compartment was opened. Spock corrected surmised that Kirk had been brought back to Earth due to his son feeling danger. (this was covered in the SECTOR 001 episode titled KIRK) Kirk was no doubt brought back to Earth by his son, David, because although Kirk and his son had seen very little of each other, David Marcus still had an instinctive drive to think of his father when he, David, was scared.

“Kirk,” Trelane said, “escaped about ten minutes ago. I can’t let you meet with him, so this is all I could show you. I shouldn’t have even gone this far. We will meet again, Vulcan.”
