The idea that the new show will be in prime - continuity (a rather vague expression) is no more valid than any other notion. All we are doing right now is just reading tea leaves.

IIRC there was not only a petition to stop ST: Beyond but a theory that the movie was not being made & the sets thatwere built were to fool fans that it really was happening.

Because when I see the new show and it is a good show, I'll be positive about it, and if it is anything like the last incarnations of Star Trek -meaning it would sub-par- I will come on here and say so Well, or I might not be bothered

I take it as a commentary on those segments of fandom that tend to make broad assumptions about a TV show or movie and write it off in knee-jerk fashion without actually having watched it.
