Not only am I sick of time travel, I dread the idea of it being used as some sort of in-continuity reboot. I've seen those done before. Crisis on Infinite Earths was awful, but at least the rebooted universe hit the ground running as soon as the Crisis was over. That won't happen here; you'll get an entire movie dedicated to explaining the soft reboot, then you won't actually see a Reboot Universe movie for another three years. The Reboot Universe will be a cipher, perhaps filled in by some contradictory novels that don't really commit to saying anything interesting, which will all be swept away by Reboot Trek 2.
Eventually, the fans of Preboot Trek will get control of the franchise, and unboot the reboot, giving us an Unboot Universe that resembles the Preboot more than the Reboot. Then no one will be happy, because the Reboot fans will think they're being ignored and the Preboot fans will think the Unboot is just a bastardized miscegenation of the previous two universes.
Never mind the fact that there are still people who think First Contact was a soft reboot and that Enterprise and the post-FC movies exist in a different universe than TOS and the pre-FC movies. That madness is just a preview of what awaits us if we suffer through a confirmed soft reboot. Although it is tempting to imagine that the universe which produced the Jim Kirk we know and love would never produce Admiral Janeway.
