Personal transporters---what??

I think you can entangle particles in what clickbait calls teleportation, but small scales allow more interesting forces than what us macro-beings can manage. Double slit notwithstanding, the cat in that box is either alive or dead…

Or it's a zombie cat.

If they can get the audience to practice suspension of disbelief, and those who do usually know how and why and so on. Transporters are definitely magical (after a certain point and it's only been since last decade when such experiments showed some proof that, on some level and distance, it can be done - at least in this embryonic level), but people bought into the fiction because of how it was handled.

Also, with Moore's Law and other finite measures, eventually one cannot cram more and more into the same space, not to mention efficacy of each function. That's why I loathe thin laptops unless all one does is write text and view a video someone else made and makin' them requires a lot more power than viewing 'em; you cannot have size, battery life, processing power and cooling ability at the same level - one has to give way to benefit the other.

I assumed the personal transporters just send a signal to the ship's transporter and initiates a site-to-site transport, not that the actual badge has a tiny transporter in it. Not sure if that's contradicted by anything on-screen.

^^that's far easier to buy into than a tiny transporter. Just like how, despite its localized processing power, voice commands from a modern day touchscreen phone device still involve compressing recorded speech into a file that's sent over the internet via numerous packets, decompressed, then processed by a big server farm at fast levels because of the number of servers and available bandwidth involved, results compressed and sent back to the device, decompressed, and sent through the interface for the user to hear and process. Some processes may now be done at the client node level, but a lot still require the virtual hopscotch...

I thought they were transwarp beaming to other planets in Disco S03E01, I really want Trek to embrace transporters to the max and turn humans into a technologically-assisted proto-Q. Every teleport rejuvenates you so you never age and never get sick. Beam anywhere in the galaxy. If you die, your badge spawns a savestate duplicate.

A savestate duplicate wouldn't be necessary (or desirable as it would be just that... a duplicate... not the original)... but I agree that the transporter would effectively rejuvenate an individual with every transport and prevent ageing.

By 32nd century, a transporter would probably be able to target lock onto your atoms (or down to the subatomic) after death to re-assemble the matter in a last known healthy state the individual was in just before they were killed (or at the instant time when loss of consciousness occurred) - though, I'd expect that by that time (and way before then), all individuals consciousness would have existed simultaneously in the cloud/subspace and in their biological bodies... so that if a biological death occurred, the consciousness is not lost/interrupted in any way.. its always in the cloud/subspace, but when your body is alive then you are experiencing life as if you're in that body... but if the body is destroyed, damaged beyond repair or killed, then your worldview shifts to the cyberspace/holographic form for example until a new/identical body is fashioned with a transporter/replicator.
