Poll Personal Opinion on the Skant Uniforms?

We see people in civilian clothes and in costumes for the holodeck all the time. This does not seem to be a concern. You dress for what ever activity you're engaged in. Be it exercise, repair or sitting at desk.
Scants aren't exactly tight skirts. Not sure if they restrict mobility. Though maybe some pleats are needed.

Probably not. The ship seems to be set for whatever normal is for the majority of the crew. Individual quarters seem to have individual settings.

We see them in those other outfits when not on duty. Those uniforms seem like raising your arms would reveal underwear and they seem awfully tight to have full range of motion in arms.

Most decks are human range of comfortable temperature but you don't think that they ever transport diplomats from cold planets? You think they make those diplomats travel through a searing heatscape to talk to each other?

Most of these objections are silly. Real people in real militaries use and have used skirts. If anything, I'd expect the monster maroons with all their belts and straps and seven kilos of bling to be much more impractical.

Have you never watched TOS? The women wear matching shorts under their uniforms. See the picture I posted in post #119. There is a style called a skort that incorporates a skirt with shorts. It's often used for sportswear.

They don't seem very tight to me.

The Adorians in JTB and Enterprise don't seem to have any problems. Obviously special accommodations will be made for various species and circumstances and one party or the other will have to adapt. Be it an extra layer of clothing or the opposite. But over all the ship will probably have a single environment.

Skirts as a uniform don't look quite so bad when the person wearing them still has some kind of trousers or leggings underneath. That's why the TNG admiral uniforms don't look as silly as the skants.

It's also why I went so long before noticing Pulaski's long skant-like top. That she wore it with pants made it less noticeable to me

Theoretically, there's nothing wrong with the concept of the skant for men or women. It is the future, after all. But if men are going to wear it, that's kind of a heavy lift for the contemporary audience. I guess it still could have been done, but it would have taken a lot of commitment. That is, the male leads would have to wear it frequently for the audience to get used to it, and still a lot of viewers would make fun of it. That was never going to happen, so the male skant was kind of a dumb idea and that's why it disappeared so quickly.
