Personal continuity..... Anyone?

TOS, TAS, the ten films, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, the new film if it's truly meant to be part of the tried and true continuity, and elements of the Star Fleet Technical Manual, Star Trek Blueprints, Mr. Scott's Guide to the Enterprise, Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual, Rick Sternbach's 1701-D blueprints, Ed Whitefire's 1701-D blueprints and Andrew Probert's USS Ambassador.

What I'm saying is, it's not wrong to have a personal continuity as long as you keep it to yourself, or at least share it for the sake of promoting discussion and not asserting one viewpoint over another as superior.
And that was my goal with this thread, precisely.

I mean, please, this is a Star Trek thread! Have we not learned anything from it about tolerance?

I would like to know if any Star Trek fan has his/her own, ideal for them, continuity as to what happened in Star Trek and what not?

Like, some could ignore ENT, others would accept everything except for TOS and movies, and others might as well follow only TOS.

Whats your take?

You asked for my "take" and you got it. I don't see a problem with this.

You could just pretend my responses don't exist as part of your personal canon.

I don't see a problem with this either, though it is more childish to go on about it then just ignore the statement that upsets you ever so much and just continue benignly on with your own discussion in your own priviate Idaho, as it were.

The thing is, we're probably going to get a horrible rehash of this whole thread once the film rolls around next year.

in your own priviate Idaho

I'll kindly ask you to stay out of my own private Idaho!

(how's that for a last word, eh?)

What would make a thread rehash horrible? The thread is about each contributor's personal continuity. Each individual is entitled to his or her opinion, and each individual's opinion is subject to change. :)

You kidding? I'm going to stockpile liberal amount of Scotch, Tequila, and Jack Daniels to drink before even visiting a 'Trek based board after that movie comes out. The whining and bitching and petty fighting it going to blindly idiotic.

Y'know, with all that said, and with my own stockpile of Jose Cuervo and Captain Morgan, I'm still sure that I'll watch the movie at least seven times regardless of what I think of it.

Oh, I'm not disputing all that. Not at all.

It's just that, with opinions and individuality on a Trek board combined with the freedom to change? I guarentee you, there will be blood.

MARK MY WORDS!

Like personal "canon", there's no such thing as personal continuity. It's silly.

If one is using the traditional theological definition of the former, you're quite correct: There is no such thing as "personal canon." I've not denied that; as a matter of fact, I've gone out of my way to make certain I differentiated between the two in this discussion, since the broader use of the words can indeed get one called for imprecision here.

On the other hand ... the fact that numerous people of intelligence have a personal continuity means that any statement to the effect that such doesn't exist is at best inaccurate.

There's a difference, Sharr Khan, between disapproval and disproval.

That was very elegantly stated.

I'd be willing to wager that his (or her) eloquence is directly proportional to your approval of said opinion.

In brief, number6, I read your response, and gave your thoughts their due attention.

I can assure you that your opinion only serves to entertain me.

Gee, for someone who's supposedly calm and superior, you appear to be quite a dick, number 6. Is this what you always do? Ruin threads of others, when you feel for it?

If you didn't get it, you're childish right now.

This is uncalled for, knock it off.

The same goes for everyone else in this thread. The snide remarks and shots at other posters are getting out of hand.

I count ENT, TOS, TNG, DS9 and the movies.

I dont even consider Voyager remotely related. The writing was terrible, the characters one dimensional and then theres the continuity problems of a million shuttles and Delta Flyers, increasing numbers of crewmen and a ship and uniformed crew that looked as clean and as pristine as the day they left spacedock.

The ship shouldve looked like Equinox.

Besides, anyone who counts "Threshold" as canon should be slapped upside the head.

This is where the differentiation between "canon" and "continuity" must again be made.

"Threshold," like it or not, is canon. [Flinches as Yeffrey delivers a somewhat justifiable slap.]

For anyone who can't abide such stupidity, though, it's not part of their personal continuity.

I assume they went to test the warp ten shuttle, but its motor just sputtered and died. End of ep. :)

TOS, TAS, Movies 1-4, 6, TNG, DS9, and Voyager's first episode.

Everything after that didn't happen. The Enterprise D is still flying around, Voyager is still lost in space, maybe blown up, but no details are none about her, and Enterprise takes place in an alternate timeline.
