Well, I don't care what people look like at all if I am not intending to sleep with them, so the distinction is quite important.
Obviously you judge everybody by their looks first. There's just no way around that because it takes a while to get to know somebody.
The goal is not to believe in every stereotype, though.
Chances are I'll probably be less inclined to listen to you if you're the boring surfer type of guy, though.
Yeah, I'm afraid I do judge people by their looks at first, but of course personality is much more important.

But I agree with the foregoing posts. The question is judge what? I can't judge someone's math skills or interest in skydiving by the way they look, unless they're doing calculus in the middle of a freestyle jump.

You'd be surprised how much the avatar picture affects your judgment of the poster's character.
If you're a good judge of character, then you may be able to correctly judge a person from first impressions, and that's not dissimilar to judging a person from their looks.

I'm all about personality. Whenever I go on a first date I like to sit in a giant red chair with my back turned to the woman and listen to what she has to say. Unless you're blind, of course you make superficial judgments based on appearance when you first meet someone. The key is not to let that get in the way of getting to know someone better and forming a more nuanced opinion based on their personality as well.
