I wanted to ask this question. When you meet someone for the first time, what do you do first? Judge them based on their looks or get to know them personally? It could be meeting them on a date, work, etc.

And what do you think is more important?

You look ok, I would fool around with ya.

Obviously you judge everybody by their looks first. There's just no way around that because it takes a while to get to know somebody.
The goal is not to believe in every stereotype, though.

Chances are I'll probably be less inclined to listen to you if you're the boring surfer type of guy, though. :p

Yeah, I'm afraid I do judge people by their looks at first, but of course personality is much more important.

Johnny Utah is not boring!

But I agree with the foregoing posts. The question is judge what? I can't judge someone's math skills or interest in skydiving by the way they look, unless they're doing calculus in the middle of a freestyle jump.

If you're a good judge of character, then you may be able to correctly judge a person from first impressions, and that's not dissimilar to judging a person from their looks.

i'm a man, of course i judge women by their looks... at first. then i actually, you know, try to get to know them.

I am a nice guy.
(if someone on here who knows me in real life disagrees, pls say something.)
But I don't look the best, like I said I am a three, closer to 1 than 5. People brush me off, but if they became my friend or something else, chances are they would like me.

Neither. It's all about the amount of threadbombs in their photobucket account.

Bow down to your king.

I'm all about personality. Whenever I go on a first date I like to sit in a giant red chair with my back turned to the woman and listen to what she has to say. If she impresses me, I hit the big red button on the arm of the chair and spin around to ask her to be on my team. That son of a bitch Cee Lo Green keeps stealing all my dates, though.

Oh, wait, that's not my life. That's the hit NBC show The Voice which I've seen about eight billion ads for.

Unless you're blind, of course you make superficial judgments based on appearance when you first meet someone. The key is not to let that get in the way of getting to know someone better and forming a more nuanced opinion based on their personality as well.
