Penny Johnson Jerald

My favorite Kasidy perfomance was in Take me out to the Holosuit..... She convinced Sisko to participate in Vic's holodeck adventure despite his misgivings about the treatment of Blacks in this time frame....

Wrong Season 7 episode inexplicably set on the holosuite. You're thinking of Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang.

Nah, your opinion is wrong. Vic Fontaine was great and his music is amazing. :p

*gasp* an opinion that differs from mine! The one weakness of the internet nerd! *melts away screaming "what a world"*

(Just in case it isn't clear, because there's no facial expression or tone on the internet, I'm making fun of myself, not you)

For all the hate Vic Fontaine gets (and I greatly dislike the crooner style), would people have preferred Varani to have been a recurring character?

Nah, it's all good. Vic Fontaine being unpopular is one of these things I never would have guessed before joining online discussions about Trek. It's right up there with the ol' “Keiko is a nag” spiel, people hating on Bajorans and folks thinking it's “Ryker”, “Troy” and “Cisco”.

Having recently rewatched the whole show I can say that I still love Vic and what he brought to the show. But yeah, if you don't like the music and the 60s lifestyle I can see how he's grating to some viewers.

Yes. Anything. Anybody. Varani. That weird, four armed alien lady from Unification II. Moogie singing Ferengi showtunes. Kor performing Klingon heavy metal. Neelix introducing his cheerful new interpretations of traditional Vulcan classics.A group of Kazon dropping the rhymes.
Anybody except that slimy git.

Yeah I'm just really allergic against that whole glorification of the 1960s Vegas Bar Scene lifestyle, it makes my skin crawl. it's nothing against the singer who played him as a person (other than that I don't like the music style either), and I'm aware it's a "me" thing, but I can't help but disliking it.

Oh well, you can't please everybody all the time. I like Vic and like that style of music. Now, Neelix on the other hand... I know he's supposed to be comic relief, but I don't see what's so funny about someone who can't cook to save his life being made ship's cook. Or why they can fix everything else in Voyager but can't make the food replicators work.

Look I wouldn't complain as much or as loudly about Vic if he wasn't so shoved into our faces for the last season and a half. If he was just a bit thing like Dixon Hill or Data's Sherlock Homes stories I wouldn't even be able to complain about him, since I would have never seen his episodes, just like I have never seen the Big Goodbye, Manhunt, Elementary Dear Data or Ship in a Bottle. But with Vic it's impossible to avoid him as an element that's out of place in a SciFi show.
Also that every single character just falls over and loves him as the best thing ever.

And yeah, I guess it's nice for people who like that, but they can also watch any of the many, many shows set in that time period to get that. I can only watch Star Trek to get Star Trek. So forgive me if I'd prefer something like Diva Plavalaguna in my future scifi show rather than some dolt from the 1960s.
I would have already been happier if they had just made him up as a particularly interesting alien and had him sing at Quarks. Bonus Points if they had also invented an alien language and translated the song into it.

Man I loved/hated her on 24. I remember liking her a bunch when DS9 was on. I really liked the moment in Rapture when she comes back from being in prison and there's no admonishment or anything from Sisko, he's just so happy to have her back in his life.

It's been a while since I've watched a lot of Voyager, but was Neelix really a horrible cook? I know there were some episodes where some of the characters didn't like what he was cooking, but I don't recall it being suggested that he was so bad a cook, only that he was cooking things that some human characters didn't like. But I could be mis-remembering that too.

I only really watched the first 3-4 seasons, but I don't think anyone ever had a good word to say about his cooking.

IIANM, the thrust of their dislike was the choice of ingredients, where he was constantly pushing exotic foodstuffs on them because of their nutrional value, when they wanted comfort food.

.... aka Kasidy Yates. I liked her from the beginning. Unfortunately I never saw Penny Johnson in a different role. Didn't know that she appeared in TNG either.... Any other Kasidy/Penny fans here?

Never cared for Johnson Jerald on DS9, think she's great on The Orville.

I never knew Penny was on The Orville... but I guess that's because I never looked at that show.
Penny however was on Castle. Her Castle character was "meh" for me but I miss that show.

I LOVED Penny/Kasidy on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine! I can't place my finger on what it is about her I like so much but i think she was a great asset to the Sisko family and their storyarc on the show. She did have quite some character development too. Kasidy and Sisko had nice chemistry too.
