I never noticed that about Riker before, but now it's all I'm going to think about the next time I see a TNG episode. It's so bizarre.

I wonder if there might be some production reason behind it? Like they had all the camera angles set and didn't want him to move the chair out of place? Seems unlikely, since we never saw anyone else doing this that I recall (of course, I was never looking for it before now). Could be related to how tall he is and the camera angles involved in that, though. Weird.

^There are many reasons a woman might not menstruate. A simple look at the wikipedia page on Turner's Syndrome would be enough to tell you that most women with Turner's don't menstruate.

Yeah, hormonal issues, body fat percentage (a lot of gymnasts and ballerinas don't menstruate, as well as people with eating disorders or just really skinny people), other illnesses, and there is also the fact that not every woman starts menstruating at the same age.

Sorry to be such a bitch about this, I really am, but every time I hear a guy talk about a period I think of a Viking talking about neuroscience.

^That, and if whoever changed her diapers when she was a baby thought she was a boy some of the normal "plumbing" must be missing. The condition must have included low hormone levels or she would have developed obvious issues like breast development or lack of male characteristics like voice deepening, facial hair or enlarged larynx "Adam's apple".
