Scotty was funny on many occasions. But it was natural. It wasn't played up all the time. It was the character getting into a funny situation but at the same time still holding something more as a character than slap stick line for line comedy.

Well I didn't think he was that funny anyway.... Yeah I let out a few snorts but I was not har har-ing up a storm over here with Scotty's lines.
Fine...he concentrated hard and got the job done...ok I'm agreeing with that...and if I didn't know the orig. Scotty then I'd have no problem with Pegg...but I do know him and this Pegg guy ....it's like apples and oranges...doesn't even resemble Scotty in the slightest.....which brings me to a lack of professionalism I felt was displayed on his part. That may not be the popular opinion, it may not be "right" either...but this is how I saw it and I didn't like what he "did" to the role...I understand making it your own...but this was quite a stretch here. I've said this quite a few times but I like to repeat myself...this Scotty was a coked up and caffienated verision of his former self...and I didn't like it. It was actually a tad annoying (just a tad) I will say I loved the "giving it everything she's got" line....he did that quite well because that line conveys a sense of urgency and animation.
Well I would say it was a big deal to save Earth & the Enterprise from black holes...but Kirk did that too...so really it's becoming very routine this saving earth from black holes stuff...I think I could even do it now.
Scotty was not on TOS for comedic relief and the script and his perfomance reflect that. Classic Scotty had some funny moments...but on the whole he was given a comedic tone. Are we watching the same TOS? Scotty got drunk what...twice in TOS?
You watch TOS and note down how many times Scotty is genuinely funny -- and it ain't much. Frikkin Spock (inadvertantly) makes more jokes and has more comedic aspects to his character than him!
All this Scotty talk reminded me how much I like the few times he was in charge on the bridge back in TOS.
Anyway, I like Pegg and his version of Mr Scott. Hopefully we'll see more of him working in the sequel.

Hun there are times when women who like being opinionated (Which you do) Need to shut up until that opinion is better informed, especially when you don't TWO of TWO of the series main cast (Odo from DS9 the chief of DS9 Security and Neelix the cook on Voyager, Both played by former Benson cast members by the way.)
This is it...he added nothing...if that much...I understand Rob's point about throwing the kiddies a bone with his inclusion but if that is the case then I think...no I know it could of been done a lot better -- cuter and more endearing. I really don't "hate" this character because he had little screen time...but I'm sure I would feel differently if he had a bigger role....which he shouldn't..thank you. As a matter of fact if this teenser dissappeared altogether in the next round...I doubt the non hardcore Trek fan would even notice....including the kids.

You didn't like an alien, in a sci/fi movie, that's supposed to have aliens. It seems a little dumb. It seems like as long as all the aliens look "Human" you don't have a problem with it.
