It heralds a movie so bad Pegg is having regrets about all his career choices leading up to it?

The reporter misunderstood what Abrams said.
Abrams didn't show Pegg part of Trek on his iPhone.

It could have taken a long time to edit. I don't know where they were in the editing process when Comic-Con happened, but surely he had something to show Pegg.
He probably weeped because it exceeded his expectations on some level. I hope to weep too.

Me too. I want this to be a terrific movie. Perhaps Pegg, too, realized that he just became a part of movie history.

Because in order to stay consistent with the canon, they have a scene where Scotty cuts off part of his finger as part of a bet. I'd cry if I had to see that again.
Sometimes it scares me to think that any of them could lurk here. Some of the things that folks post is just daft at times. Or makes us look like narrow-minded idiots.
the more daft stuff i suspect they just laugh at..
on the serious side i wonder if we get some back ground on scotty , something that happens in his past that would get to pegg.
other wise it must be because he got stuck with the tiny sombrero.
