Well, the movie is a "follow on," which we basically knew, and it includes previously shot footage. It's also a continuation of the first movie. Maybe they'll explain some of the disjointed scenes. And there's lens flare.
He doesn't say the movie will have previously shot footage. He said he saw a cut together "sizzle reel" put together by Abrams shortly after they started filming that used previously shot footage along with recently shot footage to show what he was planning with the new film. I can't wait to see the new film next summer!
I'm going to wait until 2015 or 2016 to see a version of it on basic cable, where it's been edited for content and running time.
Ha! You'll never be able to prove that. For all we know it's a completely separate continuity. Writer intent means nothing.
