Peanut Butter on Hamburgers...

People with a peanut allergy are going knowingly eat something with peanut butter in it?

Besides most places post "contains nuts" somewhere--even if it's not always easy to find.

Some people can be so severely allergic that just smelling peanuts is enough to cause a deadly throat-swelling-shut reaction.

Indeed. I have a friend that will gets hives if she's even in the same room as a peanut butter jar.

^Oh hell yes. There's a place near me that makes freshly ground honey roasted pb -- like, they grind it in front of you fresh. It is on my list of foods I am not allowed to buy, because I could eat it all with a spoon in one sitting, and I don't want to get fat!

one of these days, I will build a time machine, the first thing i'll do is track down the 14th century serf that discovered onions weren't poisonous and inject his ass with black mamba venom

It's probably because quite a few people would still consider it an, um, acquired taste...
I couldn't agree more.
Also, as mentioned above, there are many people nowadays with a peanut allergy. It'd be extremely difficult to make sure that there are not only peanuty burgers but also ones without the slightest trace of peanuts in and on them. You'd need two kitchens, two counters, different plates and cutlery, different ovens, frying pans, dishwashers, and 2 sets of staff.
It'd be too expensive, compared to the tiny profit they could make.

Hell, I'm still waiting for one of the big chains to come out with a hamburger with a fried egg on it.

I love fried eggs on burgers. The yolk has to be runny so it bursts on the first bite. Don't think I could say the same thing about peanut butter, though. It just doesn't sound right, although I do think I did see PB on a burger on an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on the Food network.
