Pavel Chekov Cast in Star Trek XI

syc

Captain
Captain
Zachary Quinto confirmed that Anton Yelchin(whoever?) from Alpha Dog has been cast as the new Pavel Chekov in the upcoming Star Trek film,

"Quinto let Nimoy in on news that the Chekov role had been cast with Alpha Dog actor Anton Yelchin."

Heres the link

Sounds cool too me. I just can't wait to see how the actors portray these now historical characters. Over the Top? Their own Rendition? Who knows!?

Now, repeat after me, Anton: "Enemy wessels approaching, Keptin!"

Oh, and here's your Beetles wig...

There won't be a Beatles wig.

:insert continuity violation meltdown here:

He should say: "Enemy weasel sighted Keptain. Its a Berman class wessal."

Koenig:"When we woke up we had these bodies..."
Fry:"Say it Russian!"
Koenig:"When we woke up we had these... 'wodies'"
Fry:"Now say Nuclear Wessels!"
Koenig:"No!"

Oh, and here's your Beetles wig...

First, it's spelled "Beatles".
Nevertheless, to be utterly and pointlessly pedantic: Koenig wore a "Monkees" wig, as Chekov was modeled specifically after Davey Jones.

Who, of course, was cast to be the Paul McCartney of the Monkees.

Okay, Arlo, I surrender: You have me completely Out-Nerded ! Congratulations. :guffaw:

:wtf: Seriously, I thought everybody knew that. It's not some hopelessly germane fact that Chekov's hair resembles Davy Jones. It's not some geeks-only trivia note.

The irony being, of course, that by the time Chekov clocked in on the bridge, The Beatles had long since abandoned that "mop top" thing.

But then TV was never known to be on top of trends :)

I always thought it was a Beatles wig. 2 years ago I learned it was a Monkees. and I'm n-e-r-d.

Of course, my wife is a N_E_R_D. She told me the story on our first date. :smirk:

What can I say opposites attract.

^Bender: Can everyone who hates Star Trek leave?
Koenig: Good question!
Melvar: NO!
Bender and Koenig: (sigh)

It's spelled Melllvar. Remember this bit of dialogue.

Melllvar: "To my biggest fan Melllvar. Melllvar is spelled with three Ls."
Takei: "I've been to enough Star Trek conventions to know how to spell Melllvar."

^^^
That line always made me laugh. Takai's voice, authoritative and deep, just makes it extra funny.
