The joke wasn't about people disagreeing but how it was done. For instance.

Criticism was shot down with "he's not supposed to be Shatner" or "it's an alternative universe" even if the poster mentioned nothing of the sort.
If Kirk hooks up with La'an, David might not be conceived, but if La'an is David's stepmother, then he'll have some words to say when he meets his great great great grand step father.

Personally I think Pine got the charm right (better than Shatner on that) even if he got a little frat boy at times.
I still can't see him as Kirk but I think he's doing a good job playing the character as written. I just kind've wish he was a new character instead but he doesn't bother me. I think this week's episode was his best performance so far (or I'm just finally used to him)
I think he's doing just fine portraying a "young Lt. Kirk". Considering this last episode was the first time we've really seen "Prime Kirk" portrayed, he did a great job. He sprinkled in just enough subtle 'Shatner-isms' and 'looks' that I could see where he was going with the portrayal. If he shows up again (and who are we kidding, he'll be back again at least one more time this season), I'm hoping for more progress on making the character his own.

Wesley Kirk is doing just fine for a 26- or 27-year-old version of the character. When you remember how earnest, direct and even grim Shatner's Kirk could be in his first handful of appearances it just makes Wesley that much more believable.
I would be up for a season 4/5/6 and 7 of TOS with the present actors who are playing TOS charactors in SNW.

It's 2259-60 - David's already BEEN conceived and might have even been born at this point.
In my mind, I'm thinking (based on a DC comic from years ago as well as maybe a mention in a novel) that the "little blonde lab technician" was Carol. Kirk was just made Lieutenant at Starfleet, taught some classes at the Academy (Mitchell as a student in one) and took the assignment when Farragut was ready to return to space. Carol was pregnant or already had David very recently and was so angry at Kirk that she told him to stay away if he was going to go back into space and risk his life.It's 2259-60 - David's already BEEN conceived and might have even been born at this point.
He was born in 2261 so not quite yet, but his birthdate is coming up in the very near future in-universe.

If he was out of College by 2282 and working with mom on Genesis; He'd have tpo be at least 22 by 2382, but honesty I'd say anywhere from 23-25; and unless there's an on the screen show of his character bio with birthdate... >Shakes Canonista Fist<
