Paul McGillian considered for Scotty role?

trekmovie.com is reporting, actor that portrays the Star Gate:Atlantis Character, Dr. Carson Beckett, is being considered for the Scotty role possibly.

I actually think this would be a great choice. Scotty was a tad older than the other characters, and he can nail the accent easily.

Oh, Yes! He would be absolutely perfect in the role.
I hope that he is being considered even though he is older than the casting info indicated.

Hah! That photoshop of McGillion as Scotty fooled me for a second - first time that's happened with any of the rumored or casted actors.

Turbo, the SaveCarsonBeckett folks have been organizing a letter campaign about this topic for MONTHS!

Not only does he have a flawless Scottish accent (better than Doohan's, actually), but he's got that whole techno-babble thing down pat after years of working on SG:A. :thumbsup: He's PERFECT!

He's so insanely perfect that I'm suddenly embarrassed that that hack Doohan was ever allowed to fuck up the part so royally in the first place. Shame on you, Jimmy.

He would be amazing in the role, although I hope his age doesn't put them off at all. I think that since Scotty was always meant to be a little older than the other characters (aside from Spock, who obviously doesn't count ) I think that his age is workable.

Plus, it could attract Stargate fans over to the new movie. Not that there is many left these days judging by the ratings.

Don't get me started on the myriad ways the SciFi Channel is killing all of its shows, especially Stargate and BSG.

McGillion as Scotty doesn't work for me. Oh he's rather cute, alright, but happens to lack what I call charisma. Maybe he looks a little bit like TOS Scotty (not young Scotty mind you) and maybe he even looks more like Scotty than MacAvoy, but therefore MacAvoy is believable in EVERY DAMNED part he wants to do. Don't know if he wants to do Scotty, if he does, I might even watch this movie.

I say if they want a young Scotty they should go for MacAvoy. However if they want a TOS era Scotty they should give Chris Doohan a call. He would be so perfect...
