Patrick Stewart said he'd play Picard again

I wont be surprised if the last scene of star trek 3 will be an introduction to next generation characters. thereby closing the time travel loop that started with star trek 2009. the loop in the sense that regardless of the never ending alternate universes of trek, the enterprise crew will still follow the prime pattern and that is:

from star trek tos character sto next generations characters to deep space nine characters to voyager characters and to enterprise characters.

So we could see Patrick Stewart as Picard again, they will use cgi to make him look very young although Patrick hardly ages.:)

That is extremely unlikely. They didn't just "reboot" TOS just so we could see TNG/DS9/VOY characters again.

But I was waiting for NuNeelix :(

Meanwhile, Robert Beltran is playing Commodore Chakotay of the Voyager every night, reading scripts he wrote himself, in front of a sold-out crowd of the long mirror on the bedroom closet door.

...So we could see NuTuvix! :D

I'd love to see Picard, but I just don't see that happening in the next movie. Maybe if they rebooted TNG cast, maybe there could be some sort of passing of the torch, but I don't see how. But then again, I'm not a writer or producer.

I don't have insider information or anything, but I'm pretty sure that the TNG days are done. No handoff from this next movie to a TNG reboot, or anything to do with the 24th century.

At least I hope not. Been there, done that.

The TNG era's oversaturation is what killed Trek (never mind Enterprise--it was ill-conceived and poorly done).

I think the only way to keep moving forward is to stick with the basics. Kirk and Spock, that's Star Trek.

But I think I'd like to see more mature characters and a lot less emo this time.

I would welcome Stewart's return in another time-travel like story. Maybe Picard and another TNG character (Geordi?) come back in time to get old Spock and correct the timeline, only to discover they can't. Or something like that. It would be a subplot of a bigger story. Something that links the new timeline with the post-TNG future. Could be done with good writers.

I'm pretty sure a 24th century nuPicard would bear little resemblance to prime Picard. That is, if he even exists in the first place.
His existence and physical appearance would be a contrivance of the relevant filmmakers.

Well, the ongoing IDW comic series just did The Q Gambit, an arc featuring Abramsverse versions of DS9 characters.

Isn't that moving even farther back rather than forward? That's kind of the problem with reboots. They are basically franchise Groundhog-days where everything just loops over and over again, just inheriting whatever aspects of current attitudes are considered mandatory.

There is more to moving forward than turning a page on a calendar.

stewart may be back as Xavier for xmen wolverine 3, so yes he could play picard again.
