Past Tense Observation

First and formost, two really great episodes and you can't go wrong with Clint Howard as a homeless crazy man. But watching these two episodes again I can't help wondering what ever became of Bashier and Sisko's com badges that were stolen and presumably were never recovered.

I seriously doubt that technology had a negetive impact on history and certainly no more than the communicator or phaser that were confescated by The Military in Star Trek IV. Just a little though that crossed my mind. Btw, what are some other episodes of Star Trek where 23rd or 24th century technology was left in the past on earth?

My guess would be that they were probably sold to a pawn shop by the people who stole them as cool walkie-talkies. Some very valuable items can bounce around pawn shops for decades.

Actually, it just occured to me that maybe thats one of the first assignments new temporal agents get. They basically move about time picking up the litter left behind by other accidental time travelers. Come to think of it, maybes it's not so much a job as it is the equivelent of community service

It's also entirely possible that they ended up in a landfill somewhere, or destroyed in World War III.

They were never stolen. They were confiscated by time agents while Bashir and Sisko were unconcious because they would have been stolen and disrupted the timeline otherwise.

As proof look at Dax' badge. It was never confiscated because it was never in danger of being stolen.

Thats a fairly logical explanation because we know in the Star Trek universe there are temporal agents. So it makes sense that in all the Star Trek we have seen that they have been present cleaning up the mess left behind by our characters
