Did anyone see this? I was looking forward to it because I like Amy Poehler but that first episode was rough. I think there was only one time where I laughed, but other than that, it didn't really feel lively. I think the whole mockumentary style kind of interrupted with the flow. I thought maybe I was having a not so great night, but then I saw 30 Rock and once again that show was brillient. I might give P & R one more week, but in 6 episodes, they have a lot of work to do.

It wasn't a starling classic but it certainly showed promise. I like the Office documentary format and I like the cast and I like the premise. Hell, I hated the Office at first too and now it's one of my all time favorite sitcoms.

I liked it. I was also indifferent to The Office it's first season, but in season two it kicked into high gear and really grew on me. I'm assuming that will happen here, too.

Yeah, Kath n Kim was TERRIBLE. I love Molly Shannon but I could not stand to watch that show. It wasn't funny and I actively despise Selma Blair and this was by far her most aggravating role.

I tried to watch P&R but just couldn't get into it. It's pretty accurate though in many ways about how a government office works.

I liked The Office almost from the get-go, but P & R sucks. The blonde wasn't funny, she was damned annoying. I kept wanting to slap her. Who DIDN'T see the dumb twit rolling down into the pit? A monkey at a keyboard could have written a better scene - hell, a better show.

I did like the fellow from - where did he say - S. Carolina? The one who looked like he was from India, but was a redneck. Now he was amusing. But to watch him, I'd have to watch Ms. Stupidity Plus.

I guess I should also clarify that I don't watch The Office. That's probably why I didn't like the whole Mockumentary style, but I'll probably still give it another week.

I didn't care for it, but then again it was the first episode, so I'll keep watching for the time being.

What's wrong with Amy Pohler? She's from UCB! And she was pretty funny on SNL, particularly on the newsdesk with Tina Fey. And the falling down the pit thing was in the ads for it ;) :D

I'm digging this show, though it is funnier to people who are into local politics. Like the Office, so much of it is true.

And canvassing sucks.

"Reno 911" does a much better job with the whole unscripted/improvised-from-an-outline mode of storytelling. P&R has potential, but I'm not sure it will ever realize that potential. The unscripted, documentary feel of "Reno 911" works because it plays on the popularity of "COPS", "World's Most Dangerous Chases" and other similar reality shows. To the best of my knowledge, their aren't any popular reality shows about low-level bureaucrats, so P&R doesn't really have an already popular reality show counterpart to play off of.

Parks & Rec isn't a reality show. It's a comedy in the same vain as shows like 30 Rock and The Office.

Much as I love Reno911 they basically do the same bit over and over again. I mean literally in each season they film blocks with the same guest star and do 10 iterations of the exact same gag with that person, then air one in each episode. It gets a little old.
