Paris vs Chakotay

Paris vs Chakotay, Brawl on the Bridge

Tom Paris would take down the Maquis Mauler. Combat has a lot do do with range. Chakotay would have to get closer to Paris to landa strong Strike while Tom could land one from a greater distance. All the boxing training in the world can't save if you if your opponent lands a successful first strike and uses it to create a strong second third and fourth strike.

Besides range I could see Paris etting out of more tough spots than Chakotay. He struck me as a single minding striker, meaning that if the strategy fails, it is very difficult and sometimes impossible to change tactics.

Janeway stops the fight--with nothing more than her flinty glare and a thrust forward jaw when she strides between them and says "knock it off."

Nah...

Paris used his (considerable) charm to avoid most fights.

Chakotay trained as a boxer and, in the Maquis, had engaged in fairly-recent hand-to-hand fighting. Add that he outweighs Paris, so each connecting punch likely has more force/momentum behind it, and Chak wins.

I voted Chuckles, cuz of the boxing backgground & Tom always seemed to be a lover not a fighter type. (gag)

:vulcan:

Fortunately, boxing training is what prevents your opponent from landing a successful first strike.

I can't believe this is being debated. I guess most people here don't really know about fighting. It's nothing like TV ok. People don't usually throw knockout punches just because they think they've got balls.

Tom wouldn't stand a chance. Chak's got the weight, experience, skill, and stamina. Tom's got lip and probably a glass jaw. As for "old man strength" - believe it. First, Chak's not old. Second, he's got more fighting experience and training. Third, he practices fighting. Fourth, he's got a lot more than the aimless, mindless rage of youth in his toolbox. Fifth, he's got more weight and lean body mass. Sixth, he's got a killer instinct.

He would take anything Tom delivered - and eliminate Tom's will to fight in less than half a minute with a few well-placed shots. And he'd be able to go 12 rounds.

If they went to ground, Chakotay would be on Tom like a pit bull on fresh meat.

The only way Tom could win would be if Chakotay put money on him.

Chakotay, simply because he is older and more experienced. Also he just looks like he could kick tom's a**!:techman:

Old Man strength? Please...
As men age they naturally build muscle tissue, it is science not opinion. A man of Chekotay's age is at the peak of physical strengh, Paris is young and energetic but he lacks the muscle mass to use it effectively. Chekotay would win, no questions asked. (not to mention his military training and experience is much more than that of Tom)

I'm reminded of an episode of Family Guy where Lois gets into a bar fight,. trounces every one and then grabs Peter's nuts screaming quite loudly "These are Mine! Miine! This is where my babies come from!"

Chakotay wouldn't risk offending B'Elanna by damaging her sperm depository.

Turkey Platter versus the Tree Man?

I'd say Chakotay. Unless it's prison rules. Then Paris is gonna win with an illegal wrench to the sack. True story.
